Cecile and Kevin’s Night Time Wedding in Paris

Cecile and Kevin’s Night Time Wedding in Paris

via

The wedding of Cecile and Kevin in Paris last September will be on my mind for ever. Why? Because I nearly burst down into tears while editing it. It actually broke my heart in two when I had to sift through the images and press “delete” on many of the pictures that deep down, I really wanted to keep. I had thought about splitting it up…Into five posts to be exact, but it interrupted the flow of what was a truly epic wedding night. Yes, night. Cecile and Kevin really did it their own way and after a civil ceremony that was just a little too impersonal for their liking, they asked their best friends to plan a love ceremony,  the details of which were not to be revealed to them until the day itself. Everything about this wedding was carried out with love and preparations started early in the morning, as you will soon see. The electric colour scheme of neon pink and blue was such a funky pop of fun and completely complimented their modern, industrial style venue. It choked me up to have to leave out an entire dance sequence that had me laughing and smiling from ear to ear, even more so when they continued on to include a glimpse of Cecile and Kevin’s photographers, NavyBlur bustin’ their dance moves in front of their cameras! So, instead of the 5 separate posts, we had to settle for breaking it down into 5 sections and we are so thrilled to have Cecile tell their wedding story. Guys and gals… this one is awesome.

THE PREPARATIONS

“Kevin and I met 9 years before our wedding. I was on vacation with girlfriends in Biscarosse (south of france) and we met him and a few of his friends while there. At that point I wasn’t single but he decided to keep texting me for a few months, during which time I spilt with my then boyfriend.  A few days after I told him I was single again, he texted me to let me know that he was going to visit his sister in Paris (where I was living) and asked if we could meet up. At that point I wasn’t really sure about what was going to happen (even though I knew deep down why he was really coming to Paris)…. but then I saw him again and it was in a totally different way to before- probably because I was newly single! After a few hours walking in beautiful Paris, we kissed and since then we have never left each others side. After a few months, he moved in Paris, and we started living together. Even though we were really young when we met (I was 19) I knew he was perfect for me. After my 25th birthday when he offered me the dior OUI ring (a ring with the shape of OUI), I started to think of a wedding…3 years later  he proposed during a surprise trip to Venice. I knew it was going to happen when I found out we were going to Venice and it was as perfect as I’d always imagined it would be. I couldn’t help but cry with joy!

The day started with the usual preparations but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a groom this relaxed and confident, with a morning of DIY ahead of him on his wedding day…

PRE – WEDDING CEREMONY RECEPTION

“Soon after our engagement we started to plan the wedding and being an event planner ,Kevin was so helpful. He really enjoyed the  process as much as I did and all the planning was such a fun part of the wedding. We never really had tough moments because we decided to do only what we wanted and we stuck to it even when people were sometimes surprised with our decisions. We went for a venue where we were the first to celebrate a wedding and it was perfect for us.”

NIGHT TIME WEDDING IN PARIS

“Because the civil ceremony was a little short and not very personal, we decided to have a love ceremony later on in the year with only our best friends and close family present. Then, we asked our witnesses and my brother if they would create the love ceremony for us, so it was a total surprise when we arrived. The only decision we made was that it was going to be a night ceremony.

This was definitely the best decision we made, it added so well to the romantic atmosphere of the wedding, It felt a bit out of time and our witnesses and family were so perfect. We cried a lot thanks to their speeches and the little surprises they created for us. It was so personal, reflected our story as a couple and really made us understand just how loved we are by our family and friends.”

BEST AFTER PARTY – EVER

“Another great decision we made was asking  Christine and Xander, also known as Navyblur to fly over from Ireland to photograph our wedding. They stayed in our home for a few days and it felt like we had made new friends after just a few hours of meeting them. Our photos are perfect and they are exactly what we wanted and had in mind. Moreover, we got to do a “day after” session the Monday after our wedding and now we have millions beautiful pictures of ourselves. We can’t even choose which ones are our favourites because they’re all perfect!”

Photogs who know how to party. FAB’s, meet Xander and Christina from Navy Blur Photography!
