Underground Ombre Peony Wedding Ideas

Underground Ombre Peony Wedding Ideas

via

I adore this utterly beautiful inspiration shoot send over to me by Kari Bellamy. Kari wanted to create inspiration for couples who are holding their wedding reception indoors. With an ombre feel throughout, from the incredible peonies and the romantic stationery to the statement weddings cakes. The bold pink and yellow colour scheme is to die for. I so hope that some of you gather some wonderful ideas for your weddings here.

Thanks so much to the fabulous Kari Bellamy for sharing her images with us today.

“I’m a bit of a wedding nerd, and I’ve wanted to organise a styled shoot for awhile to exercise my “wedding-nerdy-ness” .  Last year I photographed a wedding at the Royal Society of the Arts, and I was blown away by how beautiful the building was.  I especially loved the basement vaults, as it was so different than the rest of the building but still very intimate.

We started with the idea of an “Underground Secret Garden”, and it gradually developed to have a very soft feminine feel that contrasted the brick nicely.   Carrie from Reloved Styling was a huge help, including hand dip-dying the fabric and Gwenda from Fearless Florals provided all of the flowers and arranged them amazingly well.  We lucked out that peonies were in season!

When I saw the papergoods from Pepper and joy, I knew that the brush stroke was a perfect underlying element to the shoot, and I’m so excited to how well that translated to both the cake, dress and the flowers.

I wanted to give as much creative freedom to the vendors involved.  Faith, who designed the dress put up a couple sketches on her facebook fan page and let her fans vote on the dress that was handmade for the shoot.  On top of that, she decided to hand paint the flowers on the bottom of the dress!

One thing I would love to see translated into more British weddings is the ceremony backdrop.  They aren’t as popular here as they are in the United States for some reason, but I wanted to  give it a go and make it work.   We even brought in turf to the Vaults of the Royal Society to make the underground aisle in the arches.  Another international idea we brought over was the escort cards.  Instead of just a chart with names, the names are placed in alphabetical order on cards with your table number, which the guest would then pick up as a reminder.”
