The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards took place yesterday at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The Emmy Awards recognizes outstanding television programming from over 16,000 Television Academy members. Each member casts a ballot for the category of competition in their field of expertise. The Emmy Awards are administered by three sister organizations, which focus on various sectors of television and broadband programming: Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (primetime)
National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (daytime, sports, news and documentary)
International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (international) Neil Patrick Harris played host to the Emmy Awards and truly warmed up the audience with the opening. Each host from Emmy past joined Neil to battle over who was the best host. But by far the best moment to me was not who won the coveted awards. It was Merritt Wever giving the best speech EVER! It went like this “I gotta go. Bye.” With such pretigious awards, nominees arrived to the Kodak Theatre looking dapper and stunning. The red carpet always gets me excited for watching any awards show. It’s a thrill as some award shows last far too long to watch what happens. Fortunately, we have posted a few photos below displaying our best Red Carpet picks. Here are also some of last night’s Emmy winners via the Emmy site: Breaking Bad broke well at the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards, capturing its first outstanding drama series award just one week before its final episode. The AMC series also claimed a second Emmy when Anna Gunn won for suporting actress. Claire Danes won a second consecutive Emmy for outstanding lead actress in the Showtime drama, Homeland. Jim Parsons of CBS’s The Big Bang Theory won a third Emmy for outstanding lead comedy actor and lead actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus won a second Emmy for the HBO comedy Veep. NBC’s The Voice won an Emmy for outstanding reality-competition series.
