A Rustic Lavender & Hessian Filled Wedding

A Rustic Lavender & Hessian Filled Wedding

via

With a budget of £10 000, WWW readers Sally and Ian created a rustic French feel wedding filled with fragrant lavender. With their wedding day set at Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel, Derbyshire they added the loveliest of touches. With hessian, fairy lights, pretty signs, chutney favours and luggage tag details to name a few.

Sally looked beautiful in Pronovias with a traditional veil while Ian opted for a Jaeger suit and fun tartan tie. The bridesmaids wore purple with sweet wrist corsages and Sally got the best wedding present ever!

Thanks so much to the brilliant Firsthand Photography for sharing their photographs with us today.

The Proposal… It became a tradition of ours that every year for our anniversary Ian would take me to Chester for the weekend on a mini break. 2 years ago he took me away and surprised me by getting down on one knee near the river/ canal and asking me to marry him. I was in total shock and so happy.

The Vision for the Day… The vision for our day was a small, relaxed and personalised wedding with character.  We wanted to show both of our personalities.

The Planning Process… It took just over 1 year and a ½ to plan my wedding, I had a style of French rustic that I loved that I wanted to incorporate into the day and it took time to find the perfect venue. Everything fell into place after that. The first few months I just gained ideas and inspiration from wedding websites like yours, pintrest magazines and the occasional wedding fair.

Budget… £10,000

The Dress + Accessories… Bride’s Dress: Pronovias (bought from bliss bridal in Bolton). Bride’s Shoes: Office. Bride’s Headpiece: Flower clips from Oasis. Bride’s Jewellery: Monsoon earrings, bracelet- wedding gift from the groom.

Finding the Dress… First time I tried on wedding dresses was the time I found my dress, I looked in a couple more places, but went back to the same dress every time.

Groom’s Attire… Jaeger Suit and Hunter tartan cuff links.

The Honeymoon… Planning a multi trip of a lifetime to the US and Caribbean n Feb 2014.

Memorable Moments… Walking down the aisle to moon river. Being surprised with my dream car- a joint present from my husband and his father. Ian’s  speech, taking about his plan B idea to leave me and join the French foreign legion. The guests organising a sweepstake on how long my dads speech would take. Me and the bridesmaids getting up on stage with the band and singing mustang sally!

Advice for Other Couples… Plan ahead, know what you want and stick to it and don’t forget why you are getting married.
