Saving on Your NJ Wedding Budget

Saving on Your NJ Wedding Budget

Earlier this week we wrote about the importance of a budget for your NJ wedding. Once you have your budget established, what do you do to save in areas that are more expensive than you originally thought? There may be several must-have’s for your NJ wedding, and it may require some tweaking to your budget to make sure you can include everything you want for your special day.

There are several ways you can save on the costs for your NJ wedding. Believe it or not the size of the centerpiece for your reception guests’ tables can make a significant difference in your budget. By choosing smaller centerpieces you can save hundreds rather than going with bulky and expensive flower bouquets in vases. Plus, smaller centerpieces mean it will be easier for guests to interact with everyone at the table.

If you do choose flowers for your reception look for in-season flowers. Using local flowers that are in-season means your florist won’t have to important any exotic flowers and will pass on those savings to you. Mixing different types of flowers can also inflate your NJ wedding budget. Stick with one kind of flower so your florist only has to place one bulk order.

Another great way to save on your wedding costs is to use your own wedding officiant. Priests or other officiants can add thousands to your wedding budget. Today organizations make it easy to ordain laypeople to officiate weddings. If a family member or close friend is especially significant to you, it would be a romantic (and cost-effective) idea to see if they would be willing to administer your wedding vows. Make sure the person is open to the idea and do some research before you make final plans. Some states have their own laws regarding this type of wedding so check with your local county clerk about the laws specific to the area where you are married.

You can break with tradition for your NJ wedding to save a bundle on costs. A non-traditional wedding venue like a city-run park, garden, or a family farm may be willing to accommodate you and your NJ wedding guests for a lot less than a reception hall or country club. Beware of outdoor receptions, however, and invest in a large tent just in case of bath weather.
