June & Gabe | Brunch Wedding in Nashville

June & Gabe | Brunch Wedding in Nashville

I’m pretty sure brunch is the best meal ever; add a wedding and it’s even better! June and Gabe fell in love over brunch, so it made sense to choose a brunch reception for their Nashville wedding. Photos by Austin Gros.

“Our ceremony was timeless and very traditional,” says the bride, “with the exception of the music and writing our own vows.” Family and friends played cello, violin, and piano for the ceremony. Musical selections included “Claire De Lune” by Debussey, “Brighter than Sunshine” by Aqualung and “Carnival of the Animals” Camille Saint-Saëns.

Guests tossed handfuls of lavender buds at the couple as they walked out of the venue.

Why did you choose this location for your wedding?  It was actually Gabe’s first idea. He thought it represented us both in a lot of ways. We aren’t very farm house rustic or destination location kind of people; we also aren’t the kind of couple that likes big roses, lights and tiaras. We wanted simple yet sophisticated, and something that embodied our roots, Arizona and South Carolina.

What inspired you when you were planning your wedding?  The desert. June is from Arizona so we wanted to bring in some of those colors you see in an Arizona sunset.

What advice do you have for other brides?  You’re going to be exhausted! Just know that going into it, and refrain from getting cranky because of it. Also, when picking your food, make sure to choose it for your guests and groom, because you probably won’t remember to eat during that whirlwind of a day!

Do you have any budget tips for other brides?  Most venues will give you the place for half off if you do a brunch wedding since they can do two events in one day and it’s basically extra money in their pocket. Plus the cost of the food is way cheaper too.

Is there anything else that helps tell the story of the day?  It all goes by so quickly. There were so many people who carried us through that day. I think its important to remember that in addition to the bride and groom, there are so many people who want this day go perfectly. Utilize them. And remember, ask for help and take time to sit back and relax.
