A very interesting story, one beautiful bride and the most interesting couple ever. I am more than thrilled to have this wedding story up for our pleasure. Kayinsola’s wedding colors also thrills us as  you don’t see such  color combination used often in Naija ( Teal and Mint).  The bridesmaids using handfan is also very chic! A dream come true experience and every girly girls wish for a fairy tale wedding. Thanks to Genesis Paparazzi photography  who shared this with us! Have fun reading..

How we met from Bride: Let’s say our meeting was destined. I met my hubby in Abuja through a mutual friend. It was funny really.m  I remember my first thought was “what’s it with him”? Cos he kept giving me one word answers! Suddenly, he couldn’t keep his eyes off me, as he just kept staring at me so much so that our mutual friends whom when where with also noticed. The next day he called me and a long friendship started. This lasted for Eight good years!

Wedding Planning: I loved every little part of d planning but the details I loved best was the detailing that went into my traditional outfit ( the aso-oke), oh my! Mrs Olaiya of WIKEA Aso-Oke tried. Secondly, the details/ 4 page guide, I gave my hubby on his outfit was hilarious! Then the details dat we put into the drinks was just crazy! Oh I sure had loads of  argument with my hubby on that- rightly so, as even after the party I still have enough to open a pub or throw another party!
I love simple, elegant and matured colors- The different shades of Teal and Mint for the white wedding is a lovely wedding combo.

Choosing my wedding dress style gave me issues cos I had to consider the Church and my folks (mine and my hubby’s)…but luckily I got what I wanted without compromising my style and happiness and also making the folks happy!… The simple high neck and open V-back is just totally me!

My reception dress is by House of Dorcas, deciding on the style was difficult, as I wanted a total contrast  to my wedding dress. She definitely delivered…

On D-day, I was up by 4:30am after just an hour of sleep and I was unbelievably not tired at all. It rained cats and dogs very early on the day, but I wasn’t bothered cos I just believed God was in control and He sure was! After all, the previous day which was the trad wedding, it rained heavily but only after the event…getting dressed with all the attendants anxiety of being on time is something I can’t ever forget..luckily my friends, Sister and planners, Mopelola and Naomi kept me informed and gave me assurance. The look on my parents face as I walked down  to meet them downstairs is just something that will stay with me forever…

The smile and love in my hubby’s face, made everything perfect, I just felt complete and ecstatically content, especially when I got to the church and he said, “waoh, now I understand what the secrecy  is all about”. When he played the piano and sang for me…the love in my heart skyrocketed! It was unexpected..

My advice to other brides: Once you put God first, the puzzles all falls into place: Respect, Patience, Communication, Understanding and Compromise. There was lot of compromise- the first starting from the date of the wedding- 3 days before my birthday. I accepted to the date when he gave me his word NEVER to combine my gifts for the wedding anniversary and my birthday. Another was on the size of the wedding: ironically, I was a bride that wanted a very small and intimate wedding of 150 people max. My groom wanted big, because he couldn’t imagine not inviting all his friends at the end we settled for average which became big. So communication and compromise is very important.
Have a budget even if it would have to be revised more than thrice…at least it gives you a check…don’t try to do what you are not up to…Weddings are so expensive..price quotations changes once it’s for a wedding…our budget became x400%…but having a classy and elegant wedding isn’t about the amount you spend, but the love, planning, organization and style you put into it.

Surround yourself with people who truly love you and are willing to go the extra mile for u…I had a good support of friends and sisters- Mopelola, Olajumoke and Naomi- they stomached my perfectionist and impatient character and helped make my dream a reality!

Interview vendors to make sure u choose one that suits you and not one that’s just famous but might not understand your vision..it’s meant to be about you!
