Having the perfect sweet treat to celebrate your wedding is essential in my book. A wedding cake not only adds personality to your wedding but it keeps hungry tummies happy.

If you are on the hunt for the perfect cake, then let me introduce you to WWW’s newest sponsor Clare from the Little Bear Cakery.

Hi Clare, could you firstly tell WWW readers a little bit about you?

My name is Clare Margary and I am a 28 year old pastry chef and cake designer from Hackney, East London. In 2011 I set up the Little Bear Cakery to follow my passion for cakes.

What do you love/dislike about your job?

I love the creativity it entails. Every order is different and I thrive off the challenge of coming up with something unique for each customer. I’ve always wanted to work for myself so running the Little Bear Cakery is a dream come true!

How did you get into baking and into the wedding industry?

I’ve worked in the catering industry for over 10 years but it was after studying Patisserie and Confectionery at college that I discovered my love of cake decorating. I started making cakes for friends and family and set up a blog littlebearcakery.blogspot.co.uk to record my progress. After a lot of hard work and practice, I was finally ready to set up my own cake business. As I broadened and developed my skills I naturally progressed into wedding cakes, where my passion now lies.

What do you aim to achieve for your clients?

My aim is to create my clients’ dream cake for their special day. Whether they know exactly what they want or if they haven’t a clue where to start, I ensure I am there every step of the way to listen to their ideas and advise accordingly to come up with the perfect bespoke cake. My cakes will always fit perfectly into the client’s scheme – I take inspiration from themes, décor, the dress, invitations – anything that will ensure that the finished product is a perfect match.

I also find Pinterest a great tool to give my brides some inspiration. I have compiled a few helpful wedding related boards here (http://www.pinterest.com/clarelbcakery/)”

What style is your work?

I take a lot of my inspiration from flowers and love creating beautifully intricate and lifelike sugar flowers. I also love the intricacy of lace and specialise in bespoke brush embroidery designs to suit any theme. For a more rustic wedding, I also create more natural “naked” wedding cakes.

Could you tell us some information about your pricing?

For my most popular size 6”/8”/10” 3 tier cake to feed up to 120, prices start from £350 for a simple decorated cake and £250 for a “naked” wedding cake.

Do you have any tips for couples in selecting suppliers?

Make sure you’re comfortable with them. Don’t be afraid to ask questions – communication is key to ensuring you receive the end product you desire.
