4 Beauty Truths We’re Thankful for This Thanksgiving

As Thanksgiving draws closer, we feel compelled to count our blessings. We’re grateful for a lot of things from good hair days, to the massage chairs at the nail salon, to perfectly arranged frozen yogurt toppings. In an effort to share our gratitude this holiday, we put together a very important list of five beauty facts we’re thankful for.

Concealer Performs Modern Miracles

We ask a lot of our concealer. From up-too-late dark circles, to oops-I-ate-too-much-candy blemishes, to eternally-annoying uneven skin tone, we put our most beloved concealer through the ringer. So thank you, you modern miracle worker, concealer. Thank you for never asking questions, but continuing to get the job done.

There’s Nothing Lipstick Can’t Solve

Feeling frumpy? Heartbroken? Uninspired? Reach for the lipstick and life just feels infinitely better. Maybe it’s its ability to brighten your complexion with one fell swoop, or its way of transforming the most boring outfit to a chic ensemble—whatever the reason, lipstick never fails to boost our mood and confidence. So thank you, little pal, for stepping in during our darkest moments and making everything feel all right.

There’s No Beauty Blunder That Can’t Be Remedied

It’s a truth we test over and over in our cosmetic experimentation—and one we’re infinitely grateful for—there’s no beauty blunder that can’t be remedied. The best way to prevent makeup mishaps is to start slowly and blend, blend, blend for the look you want. If, for some reason that sage advice fell to the wayside, there’s still a few tactics to undo your errors without washing your face and starting over.

Blotched liner? Either blend it into a smoky eye with dark shadow or take a q-tip with makeup remove and dab softly. Too much blush? Use a cotton ball and wipe it in the same way you applied your blush to remove excess color. Weird eyeshadow situation? Blend with a q-tip to absorb the color and then buff with a brush until you’re good to go. All in all, that makeup bag is more forgiving than you’d think, and for that we say thank goodness.

Simple is Beautiful

Finally, it’s a beauty truth, but also a fact of life (in our humble opinion): simplicity is beautiful. While we will never tire of gradient liner, bold lips or glitter done right, sometimes subtly trumps it all. So thank you minimalist beauty—the answer to our prayers, the enabler of our snooze-button addiction—there’s nothing we love more than effortless appeal.
