We at Reel Sixty shoot weddings on Super 8mm film. From the very beginning we've always believed that your big day is best captured on real celluloid and that passion has kept us going for over 10 years.

Super 8mm records with a gentle and natural look, but we could talk forever about the film "look", really it's down to personal interpretation. Many brides tell us that the day whizzes by in a cloud of people and emotions, and that the film captures moments and details they had missed. Others had have told us of how they loved seeing how their dress moved, smiles of the guests or the changing weather of the day.

The idea behind Reel Sixty came in the form of a wedding gift in the spring of 2003, the newly weds received a reel of film, a pretty and permanent record of their big day. What started out as a quirky gift turned into a small business and we have since captured around 200 weddings in every corner of the country; in churches, town halls, hotels, country houses, gardens, woodlands; it's all been put to film in the very same way.

One thing that has changed over time is the way we deliver the films once completed, back in the beginning we converted the film onto the VHS cassettes. These days we prefer (the aptly titled) memory sticks so the films can be watched and shared on all kind of groovy devices, and of course we create online versions too.

The heyday of Super 8 film came to an end the early 1980s. Before the smartphone age, and further back before the camcorder age the average person could only record moving images on Super 8 film. It was the only affordable option, the larger 35mm film was (and still is) for Hollywood movies, 16mm was for newsreels and television drama. But Super 8mm was the film for the people, it made its mark as the recorder of family occasions, barbecues, holidays and weddings.

So for a few generations from the 1950s to the 1980s the very look of the film was the language for reliving all kinds of personal and family milestones. This is the tradition we love to continue, as with other aspects of wedding day it is traditional, permanent and undeniably romantic.

But the film is nothing at all without your big day; the place, the people and all the laughter.

If you are to get married and you like the idea of capturing the occasion please do get in touch via our website www.reelsixty.com We always look forward to discussing more wedding plans.
