I am thrilled this afternoon to be catching up with one of my favourite wedding photographers, the brilliant Mick Shah.

London Wedding Photographer Miki Photography create some super amazing imagery and I have been delighted to share many real weddings photographed by Mick on WWW, have a look here.

If you are on the hunt for the perfect photographer I can whole heartedly recommend Mick, who is not only the type of person you would want around at your wedding, but has a real talent for capturing memories.

I'm a husband and father and it's actually because of this that I got into photography. I was a full-time musician for 5 years and loved it but felt that time in my life was coming to an end and around that time my wife got pregnant and just kept nagging me to get a camera for when the baby was born but I was so insistent it was a waste of money and I could do just the same on my iphone ha! In the end she literally dragged me to the camera shop and we bought a camera. I figured I wanted a hobby that I meant I didn't need to travel (ha again!) so started practising. Naturally all my mates were musicians and they all needed 'promo' shots, live band shots etc so I started practising on them and loved the whole image side. But then my son was born and I started capturing him and my wife interacting with him, and it was amazing - there was something about the connection that was sooo powerful and gave much more meaning to the image.

I love meeting new couples, hearing their stories and working with them to achieve a body of images that really represents who they are but hopefully in the best possible way! I honestly look forward to every wedding and have to pinch myself sometimes that I get paid to do this.

A Manger of a singer I had done some work for was getting married and so since I had never done a wedding before and he had a pro photographer booked already I asked if just for a laugh if I could tag along. It was at that wedding where it kind of all came together and I had that 'eureka' moment! It's difficult to explain but there was all the 'buzz' of doing a live gig coupled with the emotional connection of the bride and groom and all their family similar to that connection of my wife and son. Capturing all of that just made sense creatively. When the photos came back the response I got was amazing and from that I got my first wedding 'booking' and then more referrals etc and the rest is history! I now shoot mainly weddings not just in London but the whole of the UK.

I always strive to give 100% to all my clients whether it be an intimate, larger, traditional or alternative wedding and produce unique images they can be proud of and feel show off who they are as a couple, their personality and their love for one another and capture the ambience and 'energy of the day'.

My three 'keywords' to describe my business or type of wedding photography are 'love' 'fun' and 'style'. 'Love' because at the end of the day that's what a wedding is about, two people who love each other enough to say that they want to spend the rest of the lives together and throw a party to celebrate and invite the people they love (and a few relatives lol!) to come and join in and that's what I'm first and foremost trying to document. 'Fun' because whether you're a traditional, quirky or alternative bride and groom, you should just be yourselves and just have fun doing it. On the engagement shoot at the beginning it's usually mostly the guys who are more wary and the immortal line, '...I don't feel having my picture taken...' nearly always comes out, but I try and get them to have such a laugh that by the end of it they're the ones suggesting the shots of them I should be taking and that's great cause on the wedding day I feel more like one of their friends at the wedding taking pictures rather than a complete stranger. Lastly 'style' because I also strive to make them both 'look good!' and hopefully produce some pictures they'll be proud of and happy to show their friends.

I offer only one Wedding Photography Package. The reason I offer only one is because when I was getting married for every enquiry I made to a supplier I was always given a myriad of choices it was sometimes overwhelming. So I wanted to design a package which the couple would know for one simple investment they would get everything they need for great wedding photography. So included is a pre-wed shoot for us to get to know each other, 10 hrs coverage on the wedding day, an online gallery to share with family and friends, a USB with all the photos and 100miles towards travel. Then they can add optional extras like an album, 2nd photographer etc. Please get in touch to see my current prices.

It's standard advice but it's so true, firstly pick a photographer on the images they've produced and that you actually like the style of and secondly and maybe most importantly pick someone who's personality you like the vibe of, because they're going to be one of the few people who's going to be around you all day on one of the most important day of your lives - so if you like them you're more likely to be relaxed and more than likely produce better images.

Email me at [email protected] or call me on 07812 056 222 I'd love to hear from you, all about your plans for your big day and hopefully produce what you're looking for with regards to the photography.

So much gorgeousness, I just love Mick's use of light.

Thanks so much Mick for sharing all about your work with us :-) XOXO Lou
