A heartbroken French woman will be wed to her dead fiance because of a little-known French law used in such special circumstances.

The woman, who only identified herself as Pascale, was with her fiance for six-and-a-half years before he died of a heart attack. The tragedy occurred just one month before the pair was to be married, The Local reports.

It took her four letters to the president and 20 months of waiting, but a few weeks from now, Pascale will stand before the mayor of her village in St. Omer and marry her fiance Michael.
