Cape Town couple, Hennie and Leani celebrated their vows in a fun, quirky, relaxed and colourful wedding bash! Their wedding day was a complete reflection of their personalities - they longed for an informal celebration, where everyone could let their hair down, kick off their heels and have a great party!

Their Wellington wedding venue, Kleinevalleij was the perfect place for just such an occasion. Having previously played host to this whimsical Alice In Wonderland Wedding - Kleinevalleij {Real Wedding}, it was a venue made for their cute 'n quirky wedding.

An afternoon of lounging and enjoying tasty nibbles was quickly transformed into an evening hula hoop and neon party at Kleinevalleij's Festa venue. What fun! Art Photo joined in and had a ball of a time capturing their wonderful wedding moments! Take a look!

(Above) DIY Pinwheel Keepsake Bouquet: Leani made her own bouquet from a collection of coral and blue pinwheels.

(Above) Quirky and Fun Bridesmaid Look: Each of the bridesmaids wore a timeless LBD (Little Black Dress) in different trendy designs.

(Above Left) Quirky and Fun Boutonniere: Leani also made the groom and groomsmen's boutonnieres. A little wooden sail boat adorned with two strips of ribbon were pinned to the lapel of Hennie's suit.

Cute and Quirky South African Wedding Ceremony

Leani shares their love story: We were both students at Stellenbosch University and met through mutual friends. One night our residences, Simonsberg and Nerina, had a party at a club and I was dressed up in a cute crocodile (self-made) costume and he was in his khaki-outfit... Apparently that night Hennie realized I was the girl he will be marrying one day!!!!

The Tale Of Their Proposal

Hennie's proposal blew Leani away: Hennie completely blew me away by dropping on one knee at a guesthouse where we were staying over. Without me knowing, a bottle of champagne was ready in the little fridge and he just felt that it was the right moment to propose. It was the sweetest moment, I wish someone filmed all the amazing things he said, because I can't remember everything, I was way too overwhelmed!

Cute and Quirky Wedding Reception

(Above) DIY Wedding Floral Decor: Sourced from secondhand stores, cute flower pots were handpainted, filled with lush white flowers, before being displayed on the tables outdoors.

(Above) Cute & Quirky Wedding Favours: Each guest received a cute little wooden brooch as a keepsake of their fab wedding celebration.

Cute & Quirky Wedding Decor: Bottles were given a new lease on life with a lick of fresh white paint, which contrasted beautifully with the arrangement of blooms. Empty glass jars displayed stems of flowers in pink, white and green hues. An endless amount of candles were also incorporated into their wedding decor.

Real Bride, Leani's, Tips For Brides-To-Be

  • Enjoy it and don't stress. Planning is part of the fun! I had a small budget and I managed to even stay below it, just think out of the box. Oh, and there is ALWAYS a plan B, believe it or not.
  • You may not think of yourself as a DIY queen, but... you can do a lot of things yourself, even if you don't consider yourself creative.
  • Rope in loved ones.Friends and family WANT to help, so let them.
  • Shop around and consider the unusual. Compare prices and look a bit further than the usual.
