Beach Town Wedding in Costa Rica

"With temps above 95 degrees, Our wedding day was a hot one, but we loved it because we were able to go surf in the morning and get married in the afternoon." - From the Bride

Gee Whiz! How laid back can you get when you start off your wedding day with a little casual Costa Rican surfing? Don't worry, we are only a little bit jealous, but for some very good reasons. Diane and Matt's beach town wedding in Costa Rica is a gorgeous example of how to mix wedding elegance with a chill beach day. We are sure you will want to go bury your toes in the sand somewhere when you finish soaking up this wedding captured beautifully captured by Austin Gros Photography. Be sure to catch more warm weather wedding photos in the full gallery here.

From the Bride:
We met by chance 7 years ago in New York City when Matt asked me for directions on Park Avenue South. Years later, we decided to take an adventurous vacation to Nosara, Costa Rica to learn how to surf. We immediately fell in love with the place. Nosara has a small beach town feel, it's in the middle of no where (as opposed to the hustle and bustle of New York City), it has a rugged natural beauty, and it has the friendliest/most laid-back locals. We wanted to share this little gem of a town with our friends and family, so when we got engaged, Nosara was the 1st place we thought of as a place where we should get married.

From Four Winds Wedding and Events:
When Diane contacted us looking for an event designer for her bohemian chic inspired Costa Rica wedding, we were immediately intrigued. Not only do we absolutely love this design aesthetic, Diane is an artsy and creative bride who had a clear vision for her event design. She chose a small beachside restaurant with some really fun design details like a gorgeous white wash daybed with sun faded pilows.

For the ceremony, we mix and matched the gorgeous teak wedding benches from Eventos Artesanos and the beachy white chairs found at the restaurant for a fun and whimsical seating arrangement on the shores of Playa Pelada (near Nosara, Costa Rica). The whole package really came together with the photos from Austin Gros Photography. His skillful use of film really enhanced the total look of this event and added a certain soft, faded feel that Diane was really looking for.

From the Groom:
Having grown up on opposite coasts (Diane in California and I grew up in Rhode Island) a destination wedding at our new favorite place, Nosara, Costa Rica, was an easy choice. We had our ceremony on the beach at Playa Pelada and the reception was in the garden at La Luna overlooking a breathtaking Pacific sunset. And now more than 30 of our friends and family have also taken a surf lesson at the same beach where we first learned.... who knows, maybe we'll be back with our kids someday.

From the Bride:
I would have done a couple things differently, I would have scheduled in more down time. It was a Thurs-Sun event with the wedding on Sat night. It felt rushed with surfing, ATVs, rehearsal dinners etc, and I would have loved to have more down time to just hang out. I would also have started the ceremony an hour or two later than when we did. It was scheduled around 4 pm and I should have pushed to 5 or 6 pm because it was so hot.
