The New Pink

Written by: louise

There's been a quiet revolution in weddings over the past couple of years, with tried and tested pink colour schemes being replaced with new shades and combinations. One of the most popular hues to burst onto the scene is peach, from soft pastel peach to punchy coral, this is one colour you're really loving. Stepping away from sugar-y sweet pink towards this fresher tone is lovely to see - away from chintzy vintage schemes towards an altogether more contemporary look, which needless to say I love!

And it seems I'm not alone, the team behind today's styled shoot would go as far as saying peach is the new pink! What do you think? I'll leave you with some words from photographer Alexandra Vonk and lots of pretty inspiration!

We used different kinds of flowers such as roses, garden roses, ranunculus and narcissus as a seasonal choice. We also included dianthus, this 'old fashioned flower' is undervalued but such a nice flower for its shape and beautiful colors. A little succulent (echeveria) marked each place setting, and acted as a favour, and we incorporated the colours using different textures (such as the ribbons), shades (peachy pinks for example the the use of flowers), and finish ( glossy vase or brushed cutlery) to not make it look too contrived and 'styled'. We used gold dinnerware to give a rich feeling to the table setting, and incorporated geometric shapes into the stationery design to add a more modern edge. The dress had to be lace for a more romantic, luxurious feeling. Of course I'm a huge fan of Jimmy Choo's shoes, who isn't. So these shoes with a touch of sparkle had to be in the shoot. Also I am a big fan of the headpieces of Jannie Baltzer. They give a girl a glamorous look and feel. For the groom I wanted to use a bowtie because you don't see that too much in The Netherlands, of course in the colour peach. I really wanted to make a cake that was soft and romantic. I decided to use ruffled rosettes in peach, to create a sweet and romantic touch, while using the gold as an accent colour to compliment the rest of the cake. Metallics and romance have been a common theme in weddings this year, adding a bit of an edge to the sweet and romantic cakes.
