Vanessa Medeiros and Eric Wong, September 1, 2012, Vancouver, British Columbia.Vanessa and Eric met through friends at a nightclub in Vancouver. Vanessa recalls that they were both dragged out that night, and neither of them were very pleased about it. Looking back, she's grateful that they were forced out by their friends, because since that night the two have never left each others' sides.
On August 27th, 2011 Eric took Vanessa up the Grouse Grind for the first time. "It was a long hour and a half till we got to the top and I was extremely unhappy that he made me do the hike," explains Vanessa. "Once we finally arrived at the top Eric gave our camera to another gentleman to take a photo of us. As I was getting ready to pose, Eric got down on one knee and proposed. Little did I know that all of my friends and family were watching all of this from The Observatory, and once I said yes, they all started screaming congratulations! It was amazing that Eric and I could share that special moment with all of them. Later that night I asked Eric, 'Why the Grouse Grind?' and he said it is because no matter where we both are in Vancouver in the future we can look up and remember our special day."
A year later, with 230 of their friends and family looking on, Vanessa and Eric were married at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Vancouver. The couple held an elegant reception at the Terminal City Club afterwards. Of all her carefully thought out wedding details, Vanessa says the flowers were her favourite accent. "They were stunning. They made the venue look soft and elegant," she shares.
