From the bride, Mary: "Mark completely shocked me with his proposal, 10 months after we started dating. We were celebrating his 30th birthday in Las Vegas with friends and family. One minute he was thanking everyone; the next, he was on bended knee. I didn't see it coming! "
"My dress was the fifth I tried on. It's pale pink with a floral pattern that you can see only up close. The mini burgers, fries, and root-beer floats were a nod to my childhood favorites. Dessert included crowd pleasers like s'mores."Their signature cocktail, a lavender sidecar, was made with brandy, Cointreau, lavender-honey syrup, lemon juice, and orange bitters and rimmed with lavender-infused sugar. Escort cards hung from a wine rack in honor of the setting. Elements like a old-fashioned truck brimming with the wedding's signature flowers and bales of hay enhanced the rustic edge of the farm venue. Mini lounges made up of sequined-pillow-strewn loveseats flanked the tent.
"Our first dance was to 'Save Room,' by John Legend. Mark had put it on a mix CD he made for me in college, when we were just friends."During the reception, guests could party in the tent or take free rides on a rented Ferris wheel, a surprise gift from Mary's parents. "Our stationer made a poster-size map of the farm for guests to sign, but no one remembered to put it out! We're framing the unsigned map and displaying it at home. It's still a beautiful souvenir."
