Nadia & Zaheer's Multicultural South African Celebration

The best thing about blogging weddings is getting to see all kinds of different celebrations, like Nadia & Zaheer's gorgeous multicultural wedding, which beautifully mixes Eastern & Western cultures. Now living in Australia, they made the journey to Nadia's home town of Durban for a traditional ceremony, and a few days later their couple shoot and massive celebration for 25o guests which we get to see today.

The day may have started out wet, in fact the venue was flooded, but you'd never know from the beautiful smiles and celebrations captured by Vanilla Photography. The bride wore a bespoke lace dress, sewn by the same designer who made her mother's making it even more special. They chose a clean, classic style with rustic touches to compliment the open barn structure of their venue to stunning effect. My favourite detail is the bridesmaids outfits - I love how they each made their look their own!

We met when studying and were introduced by mutual friends. Spending a lot of time developed into a relationship. After a morning of jet skiing, he surprised me with a helicopter ride over the Gold Coast. We landed at a private island, where he took out a two plate stove and cooked me the best salmon I've had. He then asked me to marry him!

I purchased my lace in Dubai, and my dress was sewn by Fathima Mall, a Durban based dress designer who sewed my mothers wedding dress 25 years ago! My hair was simply pulled back with volume and height. My make-up was natural and simple.

My bridesmaids wore shades of coral, pink and peach to compliment each other. The groomsmen wore white shirts with tweed bow ties and beige pants. The groom wore a beige suit with a white round collared shirt.

We picked Netherwood, a countryside venue in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. I loved the breath taking views and the combination of natural stone, glass and steel.

I wanted a combination of rustic and classic elements, so I went for tones of white and introduced rustic elements by adding some earthy tones. I wanted a relaxed feel but added ornate candelebras, silverware and crystal to give it some grandeur. We chose to go with mainly Proteas as they are the national flower of South Africa. I like the feel they create and our florist Kerry chose to supplement these with some roses and wild look flowers.

We booked Bron from Vanilla Photography. She was a joy to work with! I had been following her blog for a while and loved her creativity. Her professionalism, talent and character all work hand in hand.
