The weather is perhaps one aspect of your wedding you just cannot control. I know so many couples worry about the weather on their wedding day, so I thought it would be a good topic to discuss today.

The WWW real brides past and present share their thoughts on wedding weather and how it turned out on the day. Plus I have some helpful tips on planning for all weather possibilities...

"It rained on our Wedding Day and to be honest I didn't care. I booked a winter wedding so no one would be under any illusions about it being cold/wet/potentially snowing. I know it's something some brides fret over and being the control frea...erm enthusiast I am, I am more then sure it's something towards the end I would have stressed about had we had a summer wedding."

"I was FRANTIC about it - it was the end of the hottest, sunniest summer in years and the weather broke a few days before. We had a marquee and garden games for the children and lots of lovely fields, and I was so worried I wouldn't get to use any of it and everyone would just be squished in a damp tent! Someone was smiling on us though as it hammered down the day before and the day after, but we had gorgeous sunshine with just one little shower in the evening."

"We got married in Wales where it rains about 95% of the time so a beautiful outdoors summer wedding was never going to be on the cards! In the end we decided to go with it and got married in December, thinking that at least that way we'd know to plan for bad weather and it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference to our day. In the end the weather was lovely - obviously it was freezing, but it stayed clear and dry and we were able to make the most of the winter sunshine and have all our photos outdoors, as well as sparklers and toasting marshmallows when it got dark. It really wouldn't have made a huge amount of difference to the day if it had poured down all day either though, which is just what we had wanted. The only slight wobble I had was about a week before when particularly stormy weather meant lots of travel disruptions across the south west, which is where all my family and friends were travelling from - but even that didn't cause too much stress since most of our guests came to stay the night before the wedding and so had plenty of time to make other travel arrangements."

"We got married exactly a year after Kate & William who had a beautiful sunny April spring day. We ended up with torrential rain and gale force winds! We didn't care though. We had chosen a large venue where we had both our wedding and reception that we didn't really notice. I only noticed the weather twice on the day. Once when I had to stand outside waiting to speak to the registrar before the ceremony as I turned up 20 minutes EARLY for my wedding. And I also wanted some photographs taken in the fields of yellow rape seed flowers but didn't dare attempt it in my dress and the rain! We went to the woods with our wellies instead!"

"We were lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny, hot day in August, but the day before there was a horrible thunder storm, lightning and torrential downpours. As a result, we bought a load of clear bubble umbrellas with polka dots just in case. We left them in the boot of the car and took them back after the wedding!"

"I am pretty worried about the weather for us to be honest. We are having our reception on a farm so the whole thing could turn into a muddy puddle! Plus you can walk through fields from the church to the reception area so Tim and I are hoping to walk after the ceremony on our own for a bit of quiet time! But I will put a note of the invites to bring wellies if the weather looks awful, and we will definitely buy umbrellas. We have got quite a big marquee so everyone could go in there straight away if needed. Fingers crossed that won't happen though!!"

No matter the season in the UK, the weather can be unpredictable. Here are some ideas to consider if you are worried about the forecast...

If your wedding is set to be in a heat wave you may want to include some things to help you and your guests through the hot day. Cool refreshing drinks or ice cream will keep you hydrated. Ensuring there are shady places to sit or relax on picnic rugs or even supplying flip flops, hats, paper fans and sun cream will keep everyone cool.

If it looks like you are set to have a romantic snowy wedding, pack the wellies. Ensure there is access to the venue and perhaps book in overnight if you are concerned about being snowed in. Warm welcome drinks and canapés will go down a treat. Faux fur coats, tights, thermals and blankets are a must have too.

Rain is going to be one of the most likely of conditions on your wedding day. Umbrellas are always great to have on stand by. Having an amazing photographer who can be flexible and creative in location for your portrait images is a must have. If you are having an outdoor wedding it may be a good idea to have a plan B in regards to location.

For all weddings insurance is essential. Covering yourself financially for unforeseen circumstances is always a good thing, check the policy details to see what you are covered for.

And finally, just don't worry. As the brides above found, they had the best day still no matter the weather conditions. A little rain/wind/snow won't ruin your wedding, it can be cosy and prove to be memorable :-)

XOXO Lou
