Hi, I'm April and I am the face behind BlueBird Wedding Stationery.

I am based in beautiful rural Herefordshire, and currently work on my own with a little help from my lovely husband.

With a background and a degree in Graphic Design, and an extremely artistic family I always knew I would love to create unique and beautiful designs for people in one way or another.

I love being a part of the most special day in a person's life. I only wish I could be there on the day as well to see it all come together! I envy photographers for that!

I love creating something unique for a client, it's a lovely feeling when brides are thrilled with the results and receiving great feedback is brilliant motivation.

Hate is a difficult one, I do hate the endless sales calls... but that's about it!

I got married in 2011 to my wonderful husband; this was my first experience of wedding invitation design, I loved it and received so many compliments from my guests from the design. Soon after I started work at a local printers and designed many different kinds of wedding invitations for customers. However I couldn't shake the feeling that I wanted more time and freedom to share my ideas and love for the wedding industry in my own unique way. I also really missed planning my own wedding and couldn't wait to get back into the wedding scene.

Oh where do I start? It was my original aim to create an alternative to the mass produced wedding stationery that you can find all over the net. I offer a personal, friendly and worry free service and I have many positive testimonials confirming this. I know from experience how stressful organising a wedding can be so hopefully leaving your stationery in my capable hands will be one less thing off your minds.

I want to create excitement from the moment that guests open their invitation, and a design that the happy couple will want to treasure.

Price is also very important of course, so I try very hard to keep my prices as low and affordable for everyone as possible.

I don't think I have a set style as such; I try to be as adaptable as I can, I do love bold and colourful designs though. I am always trying to keep up with current trends for example vintage/rustic/art deco are all very big right now; I am having great fun creating new designs to fit these themes.

I also try to offer something a little different as well, For example I have some very unique and award winning 'Alice in Wonderland' style invitations, which are a personal favourite of mine.

I have a wide range of items available to buy straight from my website, saying that most people chose to get in touch first to ask if it's okay to change small details/colours on the items, which of course is fine! Everything is fully personalised with your chosen text and colours. I can also swap butterflies for hearts, roses for daisies and birds for chickens (yes, I have done a chicken themed invitation design for a customer) so a lot of my orders end up being bespoke to a certain extend.

To give a better example I have a lovely vintage postcard design featuring an Eiffel tower, but have made these incorporating the Statue of Liberty and the Sydney Opera House, at no extra cost of course.

As for prices I have save the date cards from just 99p each, and invitations starting from just £1.29. Pocketfolds invitations are one of my most popular items as there is often a lot of extra information to pass on to your guests that will not fit in a normal invitation. I have recently released a new range of these starting at just £2.75 each.

I can also design something completely one off for a customer. There is sometimes a small fee for this, depending on the size of the order. There is nothing I love more than bespoke designs, so even though it can be a daunting thought knowing where to start, I promise it will be worth it!

Matching items can be made for all invitation designs, so your table plan, place cards, order of service sheets etc. can all link together. If there is an item you would like that Is not mentioned on the website that does not mean I cannot offer it, just ask.

My main tip is don't leave it too late! I have produced orders of invitations just a couple of weeks before the actual wedding! Even though I always try my best to fit in a last minute order it can obviously be very stressful for the couple and myself. Also always order more than you think you need! You never know who may not be able to attend and you may wish to invite other guests.

It is very important I think to chose a company that will offer a personal service and will really put the time and effort into your stationery, larger companies may not have the same attitude as they will be dealing with a lot more clients at a time.

Always check for extra charges and fees and minimum amounts, at BlueBird Wedding Stationery most of our items do not have a minimum order. Also some stationers charge more per items if you order less, we will never do this as most of our printing is done in house, and we appreciate all orders even very small ones.

Samples are a great idea, as very often invitations can look much better in person compared to a photograph. We provide samples in your chosen wedding colours.
