DIY wedding outside Paris

DIY wedding outside Paris

Hello and welcome to Happy Easter Monday! In the spirit of all things crafty at Easter, I have a fabulous DIY wedding outside Paris to share with you today, full of handmade DIY decorations and detailing. I love that Chloe and Romain have stayed true to themselves, creating a wedding that is wholly influenced by their personalities.

Bride Chloe met her fiance Romain online when they were 15 and 21 respectfully. Another example of how the Internet can be a wonderful place to meet people, after 8 happy years together, they decided to take the next step into marriage.

I found my dress in a small shop. It was designed by Orea Sposa. I loved its simplicity and the fluidity of the muslin. I found my shoes Carla Selvone on LaHalle. They were very comfortable : my feet didn't hurt until the end of the party. My jewels were gifts : Romain had given the topaz pendant to me for my twentieth birthday and my mother bought the topaz earrings for the wedding. I ordered the fabric flowers for my hair from Aurélia. I recommend this on-line shop, as you can find some beautiful flower crowns and you can, as I did, customise your order. The last element of my outfit was my homemade bouquet : I made the flowers with paper, pearls and tissue paper. I thought about the decoration for a long time because I liked to see beautiful and inspiring pictures on the wedding-blogs. In this way we found the idea of the big pompoms to easily adorn the ceiling. I also found the idea of the paper waterlillies on this blog. In short, we picked ideas here and there and we personalised them : for example, we put some little dice with the painted pebbles because Romain love the board games. The painted corks were our little wink to some of our favorite worlds and mostly to my sister's street art : she paints corks and leaves them in public places. Now we have our own ones! We worked until very late in the last days before the wedding and it was stressful for us and our families. But it was worth it ! Then the wedding-day came. I chose to do my hair myself and my witness made me up. I wanted something very simple. My bridal preparations happened with my mother, my little sister and my witness. It was touching but I felt also very impatient : we were late and I couldn't wait for Romain to see me. During this time, the future groom was very anxious. Everyone was afraid that he would feel faint ! We finally saw each other. It was very moving because Romain cried. I was so relieved to be at last with him, even if we hadn't time to really enjoy it. In fact, we wanted the photo session to be before the legal ceremony... less than half an hour later. But the first guests were already there ! Our photographer, Freddy Fremond, was luckily very efficient working within the time limits and we love our photos. After the legal ceremony, we planned another service this time a more personal one. We asked a friend to officiate which he did extremely well. Each of our witnesses made a speech. It was as funny as touching, just like we hoped ! Then we said our vows before we exchanged our wedding rings. I was very moved but Romain eclipsed me : he cried so much that he hardly finished his speech. This moment was deeply emotional and a lot of our guests cried. After all these emotions, we relaxed during the cocktail party and the dinner. I wasn't very hungry but the food was delicious and our guests enjoyed it. We opened the dancing before the dessert with Stand by me and then the party started with a surprise dance. It was funny and exhausting... I think this game is just not planned for the wedding dresses !

Bride Chloe takes us through their love story and wedding day: " For our wedding above all, we wanted our wedding to be like us. We wanted colors, feelings and simplicity. We chose four main colors : turquoise, sky blue, pale pink and sea green. We decided also to include our interest for the imaginary worlds. We made a lot of DIY touches; the announcements, origami roses, leaves, and stars, pompoms and even the bouquet. The masking-tape became my best friend !

We keep a lot of very good memories of our wedding and we love to see and see again all the photos. So one advice for the future grooms and brides : choose a good photographer !"
