Jennifer and Lee attended high school together but sparks didn't fly until long after they had both graduated. "We reconnected through mutual friends at a hockey game," explains Jennifer. "I was giving my friend a lift to the rink and Lee played on his team. My friend and Lee's sister, Christine, actually helped get the two of us together at a party a week later."

When it came time to pop the question Lee was a ball of nerves. "Lee and I like to have date nights where we stay home, make a nice dinner and rent a movie," explains Jennifer. "During the movie I noticed he was extra antsy and kept telling me how happy he was and how much he loved me. He kept on going down into the basement, which is where he hid my ring for almost three months. We were was sitting under a blanket on the couch watching the movie, and he was playing with the promise ring he gave me the Christmas before, he got up, went into the kitchen and came over with the ring box. At first I didn't notice what it was, until he got down on knee. He said a beautiful speech, and opened the box. In the box was my promise ring, but I could feel there was still something on my finger. I look down and I was already wearing the engagement ring. He was switched the ring during the movie! I was used to him playing with my promise ring he would take it off and put it back on all the time. He told me had been doing it for the past few months to get me used to the act so when he did propose he could switch the rings without me noticing. It was very romantic."

For their big day, the couple chose Wooden Sticks Golf Course in Uxbridge, which was close to their home in Port Perry. The couple chose a colour palette of cheerful yellow and grey to complement their lush golf course venue. Sunflowers and chevron patterns played up the fun, whimsical tone of the day while burlap and wood accents filled the reception space with homespun charm.

After a delicious dinner guests indulged in an elaborate candy bar and danced the night away. "The entire night was very surreal and magical," Jennifer concludes.
