A Hazy Summers Day.

A Hazy Summers Day.

I don't know about you, but after a lovely warm bank holiday weekend, I'm in the mood for a summery wedding - and Elizabeth & Gareth's wedding definitely doesn't disappoint.

With an elegant lace sleeved gown, Gentlemen in Tails, tea and cake served on china and a backdrop of rolling green countryside - their wedding is the epitome of summer in the country.

And I love that Joseph Hall has managed to capture this relaxed, summery atmosphere in the images. If like me, you are well and truly ready for summer...then I'm afraid looking through the gorgeous photos of Elizabeth and Gareth's wedding will make you even more impatient.

Elizabeth The Bride: After quite a few disappointing dress fittings, I stumbled on Confetti Bridalwear in Tring. I found the perfect dress, albeit a few sizes too big. Sarah, the owner, is an amazing seamstress and basically remade the whole dress for me. I'd always dreamt of a dress that was timeless and elegant and I think this dress was exactly that.

We wanted the whole day to have a relaxed feel, and spent quite a while finding a venue to match this. Creslow was perfectly located just a couple of miles from Elizabeth parent's house and our church. Creslow Manor is a working farm, with a beautiful farmhouse and grounds.

When we first visited the venue it was snowing and there was no marquee in sight, so we really had to use our imagination to picture what it would look like on a summers day. Steven (owner of Creslow Events) was a huge help with all the venue details, everything from recommending a local caterer to spending hours hanging our decorations and even finding us some hay bales for some makeshift seating!

We wanted our colour scheme and decorations to be delicate and reflect our surroundings in the countryside - we opted for light greens, pinks and creams.

Rebecca from Gingerlily Flowers was brilliant, from the moment we first discussed what we wanted, she understood perfectly. We loved all the flowers!

The Bridesmaids wore dresses with a floral print, to tie in with our colour scheme and overall theme.

The service was the most important part of our day. We realised that we could very easily get caught up in the excitement of the day and almost forget that the purpose of our marriage is for our lives together after the wedding day. We tried to focus on this during our preparations. We got married in Elizabeth's cosy village church and filled it to the rafters with family, friends and even a four piece band (the organ had a few keys missing)!

One of Gareth's passions in life is music, so choosing a good band for the reception was a priority. Simon Lodge (from the jazz band Beats & Pieces) is a good friend of Gareth's and put together an ensemble for the night. They were a definite hit as you can see by some of the dancing photos!

We arrived to a tea and cake reception, complete with macarons and mini scones, which fitted in with our English country garden theme perfectly. For a bit of fun during the meal we allocated aprons and carving knives to unsuspecting guests, which went down particularly well after a few drinks!

Neither of us are particularly comfortable in front of a camera, but from the moment we met Joseph he made us feel completely relaxed and at ease. We had an engagement shoot the week before the wedding, which was a perfect way to break the ice. On the day itself, he blended in, whilst also providing humour and wise words at all the right times. We have had so many compliments about the photos, and his professional, but relaxed manner on the day. One of our friends has already booked him for her wedding later this year!

Ruth Harris is a friend of ours, and made a short video of the day as a surprise wedding present. Having a videographer wasn't something we had considered but if we were to do it all again we would definitely have one. It was without a doubt one of our most favourite gifts and a perfect way to remember the day.

All in all, the best day of our lives, we only wish we could do it all again!
