The Bride Diaries. Amy's Been Shopping & Crafting | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

This month Amy has been shopping, making some important purchases (which sound super beautiful) and getting some crafty bits and pieces done. I am so excited to see her wedding day already :-)) Thank you Amy XOXO Lou

We've been relatively busy ticking wedding stuff off the to do list this month. Well, it depends what you define as wedding stuff. If listing everything I own on ebay for 99p to fund the bloody thing counts then there's been lots of that. I've not found time to finish any of the craft projects I've got planned, but I have at least started some. I sell my work ( https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/amypanda) at craft fairs sometimes, and this Christmas I took part in Renegade Craft Fair in London which I found hugely inspiring. There were some really interesting and creative decorations and ways of displaying work; I see a wedding as basically a one-off set decoration project and each craft stall was like a mini-set. I'm still tweaking a lot of my own stall decorations and props, and for Renegade I made some little felt flags with text stitched on, which turned out great and I'll definitely be making some for the cake stall and for the guestbook.

I've also been finishing off our wedding favours. We foraged blackberries in September last year, and we used them to make blackberry whisky. I've been dawdling over making a decision on what type of little bottle to go for, I really like the tiny ones with cork stoppers but felt a bit stingy giving each guest less that a shot of the good stuff. So I eventually settled on some little bottles from ebay, they're a reasonable size so we're giving one per couple - I think the contents should be enough to make two nice drinks. As well as deciding on the bottle I had to decide what to do for the label, did I mention how bad I am at decisions? I went with some cute scalloped edged round stickers from a lovely etsy seller https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/girlindustries , and I'm really happy with how they look on the bottle. I'm not the biggest fan of my handwriting, but I do think handwritten labels look cute so I braved writing them out myself and they don't look too bad. I'll write out a brown label with who they're for and tie them to the top of each bottle. I'm really happy, I think they'll look so cute on the table.

But the main wedding activity this month has been buying things. We went on a completely unsuccessful trip to find wedding rings, so I was very relieved to get a phone call from Dan a few days later when I was at work to say that he'd bought himself a wedding ring and thought there was one for me in the shop too. They're both perfect, we just wanted something simple, and they're from a local business which is even better because we always wanted to support local businesses with this, the biggest shopping spree of our life. I've bought some wedding shoes. I'm not really a shoe person and I knew that I want to wear heels, but also that I think the majority of high heeled shoes aren't for me, so it was quite stressful trying to settle on some. I've got for a very vintage style pair, which should fit nicely with my 1950′s dress. Other shopping purchases include plates and forks for the evening food, both of which I probably spent far too much time and effort deciding on. We're doing our own evening snacks, and it'll largely be finger food, so we didn't need to buy much - I suspect that a lot of people will be full from dinner and will just want to raid the cake table any way, but once I started looking I realised that the world of disposable plates and forks in a wonderful one. I got some cute wooden forks with brightly coloured chevron stripes, and matching paper plates. I look forward to seeing them in action.

The best shopping purchase has been Rose's dress and shoes, I really can't wait to see her all dressed up on the day. She's been wandering around with the fabric for my veil draped over her saying "pretty"; I might have to make her a mini veil! And the second best shopping purchases have been all the second hand bargains we're collecting, namely champagne glasses and cake plates. Is there any better feeling that getting 8 champagne glasses for £1.50 from a car boot sale? I think not. I've just had a look through the cupboards and it looks like I've only got about 4 more glasses to buy, so we're on track!

My hen night is planned, a relatively quiet (but now that I have a small child, very rare) night out with some friends, and I have vague aims to have certain craft projects finished by then. It's 4 weeks before the wedding so seems sensible to have ticked off a lot of the time consuming stuff by then. So hopefully my next month will be filled with table numbers, place names, and seating plans.
