I Guess I Just Like You.

Regular followers of RMW will recognise Holly and Ed from their vintage inspired engagement shoot, which we featured in April from Katherine Ashdown. If you missed it the first time around, check it out here.

After seeing their gorgeous engagement shoot at a vintage railway station, where Holly worked 40s inspired hair and make up - we knew that Holly and Ed's wedding would be just as beautifully styled and equally as full of love.

And it definitely is...the way that Holly looks at Ed will make your heart melt.

Holly looks so beautiful and photographs amazingly well. I have to say she looks flawless in all of these images. There is something very timeless about her look - like a screen siren of days gone by...

And as for THAT Naomi Neoh dress - well, we're suckers for the femininity of Naomi's gowns and the Dita in ivory is to-die-for.

Holly The Bride:My wedding dress was based on 'Dita' by British designer Naomi Neoh - I'd originally chosen another of her dresses, but changed my mind because I couldn't stop thinking about that lace bodice! But even having chosen 'Dita', I wanted to tinker with it to really make it mine, and Reggie and Mary and the team at The Bespoke Wardrobe asked Naomi to make it with a sweetheart neckline, in ivory (it's a pink dress originally).

They made my beautiful lace straps too. I always knew I wanted a veil, the longer the better! I was so happy with my cathedral-length veil, and I wore the 'blusher' part over my face as I walked down the aisle, which felt so traditional and romantic.

My tiara and earrings from Glitzy Secrets were exactly what I was looking for - we had a 'leafy' motif running through our wedding design, so the tiara was suited that perfectly.

Instead of renting suits we would have to give back, we invested in Ed's suit, and bought him a handsome taupe suit from Jaeger. He wore a double-breasted buff colour waistcoat underneath, and completed his outfit with a gold silk tie from M&S. His best man, Chris, wore an identical outfit- it was very important to Ed that he and Chris 'matched'!

Ed's parents gave him the amazing wedding gift of a vintage Rolex watch, which looked incredible with his suit.

Ed's ring was made by a family friend, and is a solid band of white gold, made from the gold in his Mum's original wedding ring (she chose to update the style of hers a few years ago) and a little extra gold. Ed's Mum likes to say his ring has been 'double blessed', and it's lovely to think we've created a family heirloom.

I suppose I was a little demanding when it came to my wish list for a venue...I was looking for somewhere laid back, rural, and not stuffy - but also beautiful and luxurious, and with somewhere for all of the Bridal party to stay. I suppose, really, my dream was to have a 'wedding at home' feel - so I needed to find the perfect country home to borrow for the weekend! And it turns out, joyfully, that such a place does exist - the idyllic Chaucer Barn in north Norfolk.

We fell in love from just the website; although it's nowhere near our Essex home, we travelled up to see it and knew it was right immediately. James, Laura and Shelagh at Chaucer Barn were happy for us to plan every detail of the wedding we wanted without any tie-ins or restrictions, and were so helpful in suggesting suppliers and helping with details.

I wanted a 'rough luxe' look for the wedding - although we wanted rural, we also wanted things to look as though they belonged to a design. My favourite colours are metallics, and coral/blush pinks, which seemed perfect for a wedding. I had a particular wish for branches to be suspended in the roof of the marquee where we were to eat, and I bought 50 glass baubles to hang from the branches with fishing line, each bauble holding a tealight. Our marquee suppliers thought I was mad to hang branches, glass and fire above people's heads!

But they were on-board and everyone came together to bring the design to life the day before the wedding - Chaucer Barn provided the large branches from the estate, our friends trekked to collect them and dragged them back to the Barn, then the guys hung them. When we came back from the wedding rehearsal, Julie (whom we had never met before that day, and is the girlfriend of our groomsman Mike) had hung every glass bauble, tying each with 4 secure knots! It still moves me every time I think about how our friends, Party On Marquees and Chaucer Barn made that happen for us.

My bouquet was exactly what Emma at The Rose Garden and I had discussed: it had fragrant David Austen 'Keira' roses, and (non-prickly) holly (as my maiden name was Holly Rose!). It also had olive branches (because Ed and I love olives - don't laugh) and myrtle, the national flower of Sardinia, as that's where Ed and I got engaged. My bouquet was tied with some vintage lace ribbon that was used to make my mother-in-law's wedding dress, which was very special.

As we had decided not to hire suits, our Groomsmen Alex, Nick, Mike and Nick all wore their own suits, and we bought them all gold silk ties to match Ed's and the Best Man's to bring the whole look together.

Our adorable flowergirl is my cousin's daughter Olivia, who matched the older bridesmaids in a pink and gold sparkly dress from Monsoon UK

Our bridesmaids Liz, Helen, Elle and Lucy, all looked incredible in their blush-colour dresses from Phase Eight. I actually spotted the dress online, reduced, and bought it to see what it was like, thinking from the picture that it was off-white. I was amazed when it arrived that it was the ideal blush-colour to tie in with the scheme, and most importantly, all the girls loved it.

As gifts, I bought each of my Bridesmaids a handmade robe from Etsy: I chose the same floral pattern for each robe, but had them made in each girls' favourite colour. They looked fabulous wearing them on the wedding morning.

We were so lucky that the people at All Saints church near Chaucer Barn were very supportive, and allowed us to be married there, even though we usually couldn't get to Norfolk to attend services more than once a month.

After our Bridesmaids had walked down the aisle, Ed walked down and 'collected' me, and we walked down the aisle together to The Beatles' song 'Here, There and Everywhere', which was a wonderful moment.

My old schoolfriend Darren flew all the way over from New Zealand to be with us, and read Bible passages Song of Solomon 2:10-13 and 8:6-7 for us.

Our groomsman Nick, who is 50% of the reason Ed and I met (the other 50% being his sister Helen, one of our bridesmaids), read 'I Like You' during the wedding ceremony, a children's book by Sandol Stoddard Warburg. It is simply hilarious, and so sweet, and completely sums up 'liking' someone.

Ed loves brass band music (who doesn't?!) and this prompted me to look for bands to play at our reception. All the 'professional' bands I came across were way out of budget, but I found the Taverham Band online, who were fairly local to Chaucer Barn. They were out of this world, and by far the biggest "I'm so glad we did that!" of the entire wedding. Everyone loved the big sound, and they played everything from Disney songs to musical numbers! It's so worth looking around for local bands and groups- there are many talented people and they don't all charge 'professional' prices.

In the evening, we hired a digital jukebox called 'Funky Diva', which comes complete with lights and powerful speakers. Our friends got to choose the music they wanted all night, out of thousands of tracks, and it took up very little space, meaning more dancing room!

For our reception 'snack', we decided on crepes. Christophe's, a mobile creperie from Norwich, created amazing flavours like Milky Way and Galaxy chocolate (the 'UFO')! Chris made the crepes out of his beautiful yellow vintage Citroen van.

For the wedding breakfast, we hired chef Andy Parle. He came highly recommended to us, and we now know why...the tasting Andy gave us was delicious, and we were excited for our guests to try his food. So many guests told us it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding, and many said it was the best food - full stop! For starter, we had a selection of pates and terrines made from locally-sourced ingredients such as Cromer crab, and game; for main, Norfolk-reared pork with saffron risotto; the exquisite pudding was salted caramel cake with raspberries. Andy's wife Claire coordinated brilliantly.

I knew even before I got engaged who I wanted to make my wedding cake - luckily Ed was obliging! Jordana from Petit Gateau made us a stunningly beautiful cake, with a tier covered in 24kt gold leaf, and perfect sugar replicas of our wedding flowers. We had delicious pink champagne, lemon and poppy-seed, and lavender flavoured cake.

As Ed and I both come from 'photographer families', having a wonderful photographer to capture the day was very important to us. We didn't need to look far to find Katherine - looking around wedding websites and pictures of previous Norfolk weddings, every time we saw a wedding shot that made us gasp, or smile, it turned out to be taken by Katherine! It was the easiest decision in the world to ask her to be our photographer, and we couldn't have asked for more from her. Our photos are treasured and we are incredibly grateful that we had her amazing talent to capture the spirit and love in our day.

We love the wedding video that Simon Clarke shot for us. Simon, and his wife Anna, caught all the very best bits of the day, and it was like having two more friends at the wedding. They must have been very discreet too, as none of our guests had realised there was video being taken! We would totally recommend capturing your day on video if you can. It's lovely to hear your vows, hear the music of your wedding, and see your friends boogie-ing again!
