Modern Yellow & Grey Spring Wedding at the Inn at Whitewell | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

WWW readers Suze and Paul tied the knot on the 3 rd April 2014 at the Inn at Whitewell, Lancashire. They wanted their wedding day to be intimate with a yellow and grey colour scheme. I so love the modern simple feel to their day, with pretty yellow blooms and succulents and a striking chocolate wedding cake.

Suze looked super beautiful in her Isabella Bridal dress; I adore that unusual neckline. While Paul donned a three piece grey suit with yellow tie and Craspedia buttonhole. So much style.

Thanks goes to the brilliant Emma Boileau for sharing her photographs with us today.

THE PROPOSAL | My birthday Sept 27 th 2011 on the beach at night in Mexico, our song Love You Til The End by The Pogues in the background. Although getting the ring discretely through security at the Airport was nerve wracking for Paul!

THE VISION |An intimate celebration in a beautiful setting, not ones for being centre of attention so we did it small.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Lots of research into venues and ideas for the day, getting personal experience and visiting places.

BUDGET | We had a limited budget as didn't want our start our Married life with debt hanging over us. However, we managed to get a fantastic day at a very reasonable cost, and it was perfect for us.

THE VENUE | The Inn at Whitewell - The Orangery. Emma at the Inn was absolutely fantastic, as was the whole team. The day ran smoothly thanks to them. The venue is such a romantic place - completely ideal for a wedding. We knew as soon as we got to the Inn it was the place for us. Love the ambiance and the stunning views. And the food is fantastic - the sticky toffee pudding is to die for!

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | The dress was from Isabella Bridal in Stockport, Maggie was super helpful and patient with helping us find the perfect dress! The shoes I chose to match the dress from Debut and accessories John Richards.

FINDING THE DRESS | It was the second shop we went in, and I knew from walking in I would find my dream dress! Such a beautiful shop. I could tell from the moment I put it on, it was my dress. It made the previous ones look dowdy.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Grey and yellow to match the colour scheme, the suit was easy to find but impossible to find matching tie and pocket square in the yellow we wanted. Future Mother-in-Law to the rescue! The socks were a gift off Suze to Paul on the morning - so he didn't get cold feet (and matched the colour scheme haha).

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Pete (Suze's brother) did a lovely reading 'Our Wedding Day.' It suited us in that it was light hearted and not too serious! Pete got quite emotional and choked up, which was certainly interesting with a little mishap that broke the ice!

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Maid of Honour was Kate (Suze's sister) who did a super job. Although quite worried when she was hoping for Suze to fall in the river! And the speech was a definite chance to bring up some embarrassing moments from childhood - cheers Kate!

THE FLOWERS | The absolutely fantastic Victoria at Lancashire Floristry in Bolton. She is incredibly friendly and has an eye for design which captured our ideas perfectly. The bouquet was exactly what we wanted, and the table decorations of tulips, craspedia and succulents looked stunning. It really put a beautiful edge on the day.

THE CAKE | We went for a simple cake which captured our colour scheme. The top was lemon drizzle and the bottom was chocolate fudge - both our favourites.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Emma Boileau - One word would have to be amazing! Emma made us feel at ease and she is super friendly. Her photographs speak for themselves. Not only did she capture so many moments, but also all the emotions of the day. Could not have been happier. She even put on wellies for the river, and to our surprise waded straight in! Dedication for the perfect picture or what?! Amazing photographer.

THE DETAILS & DECOR | We also had Joanne from Simply Bows and Chair Covers who arranged our covers - which looked beautiful in the room. Really helped set the scene for our Wedding.

We made our Wedding Rings which added a much more personal touch. Selina Campbell was fantastic helping us with that!

We had personalised M&Ms in yellow and grey which we loved! A yummy personal touch.

THE HONEYMOON | We went to La Palma one of the Canary Islands - known as La Isla Bonita (Beautiful Island). It didn't disappoint, we travelled the whole island, even up to the Roque de los Muchachos - some amazing views. A stunning place with amazing sunsets.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Getting ready - the excitement and anticipation of the day, getting giddy! Seeing each other for the first time on our Wedding Day. Pete's reading has to be included as a memorable moment. The fun of the day and our lovely families who helped make it as fab as it was.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Do what you want to do. At the end of the day it is YOUR Wedding day. Research, look into what you want and reviews. Don't forget to enjoy it! It should be a fun celebration.
