I think this wedding may just contain my favourite wedding bouquet ever, I bold statement I know. BUT it was super whimsical; peonies, colour and ribbons... love.

WWW readers Alex and Rosie tied the knot on the 26th April 2014 at Clissold House, London. They originally planned a wedding which wasn't feeling right; cancelled the whole thing and started again.

They had a small intimate family friendly wedding followed by a big party the following weekend. I love a couple that do things a little differently and the relaxed atmosphere of their reception sounded perfect.

Alex and Rosie both looked super stylish in outfits found on ASOS, there were super sweet decorations and scrumptious food too.

Thanks so very much to the wonderful Marianne Chua for sharing her photographs with us.

THE PROPOSAL | R: Not very exciting I'm afraid... once we realised we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together we went straight in for a baby! We discussed marriage as an option for after, and Alex proposed about 1 year after her birth during a group hug with our baby in the kitchen.

A: As outlined, it was a question of when not if, and a planned trip to an obvious location seemed too... obvious. So: moment, kitchen, group hug, let's get planning.

THE VISION | Small, relaxed, low key, kid friendly, informal, fun.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | R: Difficult! Certain family member requirements meant that 9 months into planning we both realised that we had completely lost sight of our vision, and were planning an event we were no longer looking forward to. We cancelled the lot, made some difficult phone calls, and started again.

It was definitely the right decision - we downscaled from about 60 daytime guests to 19, and organized a separate party for 170 guests the following weekend.

Everyone turned out to be so supportive and understanding that second time round we managed to get it right without upsetting anyone... as far as we know!

A: All decisions thereafter were our own, with little compromise. We were lucky enough to have very similar visions, which meant all the traditional reasons we may have shied away from marriage were ultimately never part of the plan and we were able to do things our way, thankfully with family support.

The biggest decision in phase two of the plans was to stay at the same venue for ceremony and meal, which meant bringing in caterers. Best decision we made.

BUDGET | About £6000 for the wedding day, and £6000 for the party which was the following weekend.

THE VENUE | Our wedding day was spent at Clissold House in Clissold Park, Stoke Newington. They have a beautiful bright drawing room which we were able to have both the ceremony and lunch in, and we made use of the lobby and terrace in between. It was a very small wedding, and as we were spending the night at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel most of our guests (and a few extra) joined us in the Gilbert Scott bar for some cocktails after.

The next weekend we had a big party in The Artisan of Clerkenwell, which, much like Clissold House, turned out to be ideal. Both locations gave us the perfect atmosphere for each event.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Dress - Jarlo. Ribbon bracelet - Cazenda. Pearl bracelet - mother-in-law. Hair Accessory - Accessories.

FINDING THE DRESS | I was determined not to spend a fortune on the dress, and as my toddler is not a big fan of shopping I did most of my searching on-line. When I discovered the Free People website I felt sure I would get my dress from there, but somehow it never worked out.

I was delighted to find my dress on the wonderful ASOS for just £90... and I think I had a 20% off code too. : )

GROOM'S ATTIRE | I am cursed with being between sizes for virtually all formats of clothing. I'm still petitioning for an Extra Medium size to become standard. Knowing, however, that suits from the high street chain Next fit me well, I bought my wedding suit within 30 minutes of trying various options on. A friend's plain, sharp-cut wedding suit inspired my minimal 3-piece choice. Rosie's reaction hung with me for a few weeks even though I thought I'd cracked it. 3 days before the wedding I happened to look at some alternative options online (ASOS, who, if I ever use, always results in a bulk purchase followed by an equally bulk return), and a young bearded model looked dapper enough to pull me in. 48 hours later, after a second order with alternative sizes, and a lunchtime run to Office and Next (of course) for shoes and tie/hankie combo respectively, I'd finalised things and had a complete change of plan that we were both very very pleased with.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | No readings, but for music we had... Do You Realize?? by The Flaming Lips (we saw them together a couple of times in our early days). Coming Up by Alexis Taylor (Paul McCartney cover - most beautiful performance ever!?). EVA by Jean Jacques Perrey (my mother wanted some bells).

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My beautiful bridesmaids (and 1 fiance) were the only non-family members present. I have known them both since infant school and I don't think I could have made it through the planning without their relentless enthusiasm. We got their dresses from Yumi (on-line again!) and bless them they insisted on wearing them to the party the following weekend too. <3

THE FLOWERS | We used Clissold House's florist - Acacia. I did a lot of looking on Pinterest, and am delighted with how they came out.

THE CAKE | All our catering was done by Ottolenghi. At the tasting they raved so much about this layer cake, that we were convinced it would be a winner, and yes - the best cake I've ever eaten. Ever.

And while we're on it, ALL the food we had (chosen after 2 wonderful tasting sessions) was incredible and rapturously received.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Alex and I are both designers, and keen on photography, so I know choosing a photographer was going to be a big deal! Thank goodness we found the wonderful Marianne Chua. We had been evening guests at a party she was photographing, and the final shots, along with the bride and grooms passionate endorsement of her character got me researching. I then discovered she offered an analogue service and was 100% sold. She ended up bringing a partner to do the analogue shots, and despite there being just 19 guests the two of them blended in wonderfully, getting lots of natural shots without ever getting in the way.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | After research and some honed down influences, we designed and printed our own invites, info sheets, menus and place cards. We chose the tableware via Ottolenghi's preferred supplier (Rayners) and added our own runner. My favourite decorations were the Lapin and me animal characters which we used as place name holders.

THE HONEYMOON | With all the excitement of re-planning the wedding in 3 months we never got round to organising one! But my amazing boss (Paul Sulyok, Green Man Gaming) stepped in and offered us free flights to anywhere in the world for our wedding present, so we are currently researching... everywhere in the world.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | R: The beautiful chaos that was the service. Our little girl sat on my lap and chatted happily about her shoes, and the petals and everything that was going on throughout. Meanwhile her little cousin was playing peekaboo with an unwilling bridesmaid. The registrar gave a look of utter despair before exclaiming 'what charming children'.

Meanwhile Alex choked up just before 'to be my lawful wedded wife' and I thought he'd never get it out! Then we discovered that his ring really was rather tight, and he had to take over the duty of putting it on. We'd wanted informal - and we sure got it!

A: Seeing my girls in their wedding outfits after being away from them overnight.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | R: Be very wary of other people ideas of how a wedding 'has' to be interfering with your own. When we finally decided to downscale we were amazed by how understanding everyone was, and if we had been honest with ourselves, and them, right from the start we could have saved a lot of time, worry and a bit of cash.

A: Sounds obvious, but tell yourselves not to regret anything you've planned, even if it doesn't quite work out. Fortunately for us, everything went better than we ever could've hoped.
