A Pre-Raphaelite Love Affair.

A Pre-Raphaelite Love Affair.

It never fails to amaze me just how creative brides and grooms get with the dreaming and scheming of their wedding day. Never ever. Take Katey and Freddy for example who said 'I Do' at the delicious venue that is Preston Court.

Katey was inspired by the Pre Raphaelite look of long flowing hair and flower headpieces and so she dressed her maids in vintage nightgowns. Yes actual nightgowns! I know and I tell you what lovelies, it so blinking works. All of the girls look exquisite complete with flowers in their hair. I only wish I'd thought of it first!

And that's not all. Here at RMW HQ we're forever coming across up and coming hot, new bridal designers but it was Katey who introduced me to the tailoring genius that is John Zimmermann. Katey's dress, designed by John, is perhaps my favourite frock to appear on these pages this year; it is utterly dreamy.

I could go on and on and on but I don't want to spoil the surprise before you lot take a gander for yourselves so without further ado I give you Katey and Freddy's big day....

Katey The Bride: I was inspired by the Pre Raphaelite look of long flowing hair and flower headpieces. It kind of worked with the gardens and lake at the venue. The bridesmaid dresses were vintage nightgowns, and the flowers were wild and untamed.

The guys all just wore their own dark suits so they each had an individual look. We made boutonnieres for each of the groomsmen and our fathers with the same wild flowers.

We instantly fell in love with the barn; we knew we wanted the day to be centered around a big feast and the barn was the perfect setting.

The gardens did a lot of the work for us in terms of decor. For the barn, we wanted a warm glow (we couldn't have candles as the barn is hundreds of years old) so we had festoon lights on a dimmer.

The flowers were put together by Charlie at The Real Cut Flower Garden. I did loads of moodboards for her and she totally got what we were after. Wild and untamed and natural.

My favourite moment of the day was walking into the barn with Freddy and seeing the beautiful smiling faces of everyone we loved all there together.

We had a local band called Patch and the Giant. They played out in the garden while we were getting our photos done so they kept everyone entertained. In the barn, we asked a couple of friends to DJ.

Food was provided by local chef Stella Grove. We wanted a big banquet with plates in the middle rather than silver service 3-course meal. We had a big BBQ with loads of salads. It was delicious.

Sarah Gawler was a dream. She totally captured the spirit of the day and was fun to have around. Cinereportage did the video on super 8 and 16mm cameras which was a lot of fun.

Choose the things that matter the most to you and spend the money on those things. The guests aren't obsessing over every tiny detail like you are. Also, Let others help you! It saves money and takes some of the stress off your plate.
