Rustic & Stylish White Wild Flower Barn Wedding at Great Fosters with a Sassi Holford Dress | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

You cannot go wrong with a chic white colour palette and this afternoon's wedding has style written all over it.

Polly and Kevin tied the knot on the 14 th September 2013 at Great Fosters, Surrey. They had a vision of a fun yet traditional day with rustic touches.

I so love the styling of their wedding, from the bountiful blooms to the balloons and hessian details.

Polly looked so very beautiful in Sassi Holford 'Bluebell' with a pair of killer gold sparkly Christian Louboutin heels. Yum! Kevin looked dapper in a tailor made three piece suit and the bridesmaids were pretty in white dresses.

Thanks goes to the brilliant Karen Flower for sharing her delightful imagery today.

THE PROPOSAL | Kevin proposed in on Chapel Porth Beach in St Agnes, Cornwall in the February of that year. I have been there ever since I was a child and it has become tradition that we go there every February. We went for a walk down to the beach and then he proposed by the water's edge. I was in total shock and put the ring (which he had secretly had made) on the wrong hand!

THE VISION | We didn't really have a vision, we just wanted it to be fun but also traditional, hence the church wedding . The wedding reception venue, Great Fosters, is such a beautiful venue, that it didn't need to be decorated, but because of its history as a Tithe Barn, we chose more rustic decorations rather than anything too formal. So we had bunting, balloons, lace doilies, candles in glass jars, hessian and lots of wild flowers.

BUDGET | We didn't have a strict budget. My parents were very generous in allowing us to do what we wanted, and Kev's parents were also very good to us by paying for the band and hog roast in the evening. We did top it up ourselves for things like the Groomsmen's suits, the decorations and my shoes!

THE VENUE | St Nicolas Church, Great Bookham. This is the church I went to when I was younger, and where we know the vicar so it was nice to have someone who knew our family to marry us. The reception was at Great Fosters in Egham Surrey. It is an old hunting lodge, built by Henry VIII. The wedding breakfast was in the Tithe Barn, a beautiful old building with wooden beams. It was a very romantic setting.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was from Sassi Holford. I knew the style of dress I wanted but had tried on quite a few until I tried on Bluebell. It was just perfect with its intricate flowers on the corset and the princess-like full tulle skirt. My mother and sister's reactions when they saw it was great, and whilst it sounds clichéd, I just knew it was the dress for me straight away.

They provide a wonderful service and are so friendly and accommodating for what you want and any alterations you might ask for. The veil was also from Sassi Holford, and I added extra flowers down the veil to match the dress.

My shoes were from Christian Louboutin - I wanted some shoes I could wear again and they were gold and sparkly!

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Kev had his suit tailor-made at Moss Bros, as did the groomsmen. He wanted something a bit modern, and so tails didn't appeal to him. His suit was a lovely blue colour with a pink tie from Reiss which he has worn several times since.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Readings were a religious reading by my brother, Toby - Song of Solomon, Chapter 2, Verses 10-13 and the second reading was a more comical one by Pam Ayres by our mutual friend Jo, which summed Kev and Me up to a tee!

Entry music was Whilst Sheep May Safetly Graze.

Hymns were - Dear Lord and Father of Mankind, We Plough the Fields and Scatter (given it was Autumn and Kev's family are farmers), Jerusalem, and Guide Me Oh Thou Great Redeemer.

We had Caliban's Dream playing whilst we signed the register which we both loved from the London Olympics.

Then our exit music was All You Need Is Love, played on the organ, which was great.

Guests then left the church to have some old-fashioned lemonade and home-made sausage rolls made my my friend, Lucinda.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Sophie my sister and Katie and Golnaz two of my best friends from university.

THE FLOWERS | Reflecting our more rustic theme, we didn't want too formal flower displays, so we chose a lovely company called Parsley and Rose whose style is for more vintage looking flowers. They did all the wedding party's flowers, and the reception, and the Church provided their own flowers.

THE CAKE | This was made by my friend Nathalie who has started up her own cake-making business Rock Bakehouse. We chose a simple design with white icing and then decorated with flowers to match my dress.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Karen Flower Photography - again we chose Karen because we liked her style of photography from previous weddings as it was not too formal, and can capture moments rather than have us posing for each picture, which we didn't feel comfortable with. She also knew Great Fosters which helped when choosing locations for our pictures.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | As above really but I felt it was all the little details that made a difference! We made our own chutney in little jars to act as the favours, but they also served as place settings. The balloons were a bit of a nightmare in terms of getting them blown up and placed on each table as they had to be done on the morning of the wedding but luckily Nat and her fiancé came to the rescue to do it for us! I think it was worth the effort as they created a really good effect in the room.

The table settings were comprised of hessian mats, lace doilies, lots of paper flowers and real wild flowers in jugs. This was all surrounded by candles in glass jars, themselves decorated in twine and lace. We also had milk urns dotted around filled with flowers, again reflecting Kev's farming background.

One thing we had stand out was the big "K&P" lettering. This was provided by Vowed and Amazed and in the evening lit up to provide a great backdrop for the band in the barn.

We chose to have the lemonade and sausage rolls at the church as we were conscious it was a long day so didn't want people getting hungry. We also brought in a couple of our own barrels of beer as wanted to have some local ale for guest to help themselves to.

We also had a vintage suitcase for cards and a guest book which has been really nice to read up on.

Another thing we had a lot of comments was our massive Photo Frame. Instead of having a Photo Booth we had different people taking polaroids throughout the day and then attaching them to the big frame so people could see the various things that had happened in the day. It was great, and I have my sister to thank for co-ordinating that.

THE HONEYMOON | Because we had just moved house, we decided to have a shorter honeymoon to Sicily. It was lovely and relaxing, with some beautiful scenery and delicious food!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Definitely walking down the aisle where I thought I was going to cry then laugh at the same time, and seeing Kev at the end and saying our vows. Hearing the speeches, dancing to the band and doing our first dance (Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac) (who were the brilliant Beat Club), getting ready at home with my friends and family, and leaving the church in my mum's white convertible mini which she had decorated as a surprise. Low-light was getting lost on the way to the venue!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Don't leave things 'til the last minute! The last 2 weeks were a bit frantic as we realised all the little details which needed sorting.
