Homemade & Natural Outdoor Lewes Castle Wedding | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Esther and Tim married on a beautiful bright sun shining day in May of this year. They held their outdoor ceremony at Lewes Castle, East Sussex surrounded by their loved ones.

They wanted to create a day which was natural, local and handmade. There were delightful florals, brown paper and hessian details and bridesmaids in green frocks. Esther looked so very lovely in her tea length House of Mooshki dress with black sash and shoes. Oh so chic.

Thanks so very much to the wonderful Anna Pumer for sharing her photographs with us below.

THE PROPOSAL | In the Lake District, up a mountain (well, a big hill), in the wind & rain, in our waterproofs.

THE VISION | Home-made decorations & table decorations, lots of photos, elements, using local suppliers, local food & flowers etc. We wanted it to have an edge of formality in terms of structure but for the substance to be very relaxed and natural.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | There was no fixed plan that we worked towards - we bought materials for decorations that caught our eye along the way and stuck to a broad colour scheme and an attempt to use / re-use natural materials

THE VENUE | The ceremony was at Lewes Castle, the Wedding Breakfast & dancing etc at Barcombe Village Hall.

THE DRESS |The dress is by House of Mooshki.

FINDING THE DRESS | I knew what style I wanted, did some research (incl. pinterest & wedding blogs etc)., found a stockist in London (Fairy Goth Mother), tried the dress on and that was it! All in all I probably tried about 8 dresses.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Austin Reed

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Wore dresses from Phase Eight, bought at a discount on ebay.

THE FLOWERS | By Riverside Flowers, Lewes. Apart from the daisies they were all English & seasonal.

THE CAKE | Two cakes - baked my bride's mum & groom's mum.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Anna Pumer

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | On the day itself forget what the plan was/ should have been and just enjoy it for what it is and it'll be perfect.
