You can sail to or stay in a resort at many of the honeymoon hotspots like French Polynesia, Italy, France, Hawaii, Fiji, Greece, and Spain. If you want to spend a week or more in a certain place, a resort or hotel may be a better fit. Or if you are honeymooning in places that are not accessible by an ocean, sea, or river, select a hotel or resort. Today, many cruise lines offer hotel packages so that you can enjoy your port city before or after your cruise. If you are looking to visit various countries, destinations, or islands, consider a cruise. Some seven-night cruises offer you the opportunity to visit up to four countries during one sailing. And, it is easy and convenient to just unpack once, and enjoy different ports each day.

How do you want to spend your time? Relaxing by the pool with a tropical cocktail? Walking the city streets in search of the best cappuccino? Visiting historic sites, museums, or art galleries? Laying on the beach under the sun and taking refreshing dips in the ocean? You can do all of these activities by cruising or by residing at a resort. If you enjoy long stays in one place to really explore the area, local customs, cuisine, and attractions, then a hotel or resort may be best. On most cruise lines, ships visit ports for the day and sail in the evening. However, the new trend for some ships is staying overnight in certain ports so that guests can enjoy the destination longer and sample restaurants and nightlife.

You can find resorts where meals, beverages, and select activities are included in the Caribbean and Mexico, but most hotels and resorts in the world offer just the accommodations, with dining, beverages, and activities at an extra cost. Some resorts and cruise lines offer honeymoon packages, which include select amenities and others have romance packages or specials that may incorporate a breakfast, chilled bottle of Champagne, spa treatment, or activity. Cruises offer accommodations, meals, and a selection of complimentary activities and entertainment. Beverages and gratuities are also included on most luxury lines, but are additional on other lines. If you plan on traveling between different hotels such as in France and Italy, also figure in transportation costs, which would be included if you were on a cruise between these two countries.
