Staying Sane During Wedding Season

Staying Sane During Wedding Season

Feeling a little drained during the summer? It's no surprise. As a wedding professional, this is your busy season. When you are dealing with emotional brides, various event "crises", and planning brides for next season contacting you, of course you feel worn out. Take care of yourself! In many ways, the advice for professionals is similar to the advice for brides (who are going through their own emotional obstacle course at this time of year):

Stick to the basics. If you can do nothing else, do these three things: stay hydrated, get at least 7 hours of sleep each night (more if you can), and breathe. You would be amazed at just how much stress floats away after a good night's rest and a little deep breathing.

Eat healthfully. Living off of discarded favor bags half-filled with Jordan Almonds is no way to feel your best. On the go, pack your purse with healthy alternatives, like veggie sticks, protein bars and raw nuts. You want foods that will make you feel more energetic, not weigh you down with a post-sugar high crash. At home, even though it doesn't seem like it, making a very simple meal at home can take about the same amount of time as a wait in the fast food drive thru. Make good-for-you meals that you love.

Prioritize some free time. Make time to relax and replenish a priority. It's easy to get caught up in work and family during these crazy months, but find a few minutes to thumb through a magazine, take a long walk, or watch your favorite TV show.

Make fun plans. You need something to look forward to. Plan an early autumn getaway or sign up to take a couple of interesting classes to learn new hobbies or skills. And then think about those exciting plans. A lot. Having something on the horizon is always a good way to get a dose of positive energy.
