White Classic Hollywood Glamour Wedding | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

I love a glamorous chic affair, which Michaela and Sam planned for their wedding held on the 8 th March 2014. They wanted a classic Hollywood glamour feel to their day, with a palette of white, champagne and gold.

There was oodles of style and sophistication, from the sparkly Jimmy Choo heels to the ivory rose bouquets and candlelit dance. This is one elegant dreamy wedding day.

Thanks so much to the wonderful Kerry Ann Duffy for sharing her photographs today.

THE PROPOSAL | We visited our holiday home in Cyprus. After a few failed attempts to pop the question on our trip, Sam booked a meal at one of our favourite restaurants - Bellapais Gardens. This is one of the most romantic settings, nestled in the mountains with a great view overlooking Kyrenia harbour. We were given the best table on the balcony dressed in petals - However I didn't notice any of this after arriving 2 hours late & flustered, due to an incident en-route involving rescuing a dog stranded on a dual carriageway! Fortunately the owner held our table as Sam had told the owner in advance of the planned proposal when making the booking! All the staff were waiting behind me in anticipation & all the customers clapped as Sam presented the ring. I cried for what felt like an eternity, before I said yes! The dog incident just goes to show that there isn't always a perfect moment, but just the perfect person to share it with xxx

THE VISION | Classic Hollywood Glamour was the direction we wanted the décor & wedding party to take. Our taste in styles were very similar, wanting a smart/formal look for the groom party, whilst the bridal party took on a simple, yet elegant/classy twist.... Lots of our guests enjoy musical entertainment, so we had a live set during our meal singing swing & jazz in keeping with the classic theme, followed by our first dance (At Last - Etta James). In the evening we had a band playing more up tempo 80's pop/soul, before one of our guests Dj'd the remaining hour into the night with an array of current pop & dance music.

THE PLANNING PROCESS |As soon as we returned from our Cyprus trip, visits to prospective venues were planned - this was important to book quickly as having large wedding numbers restricted our options (Due to popularity & not wanting to book any further than 2 years in advance!). Mood boards were set out to help with what complimented each other. Suppliers were carefully chosen via wedding shows, friends & the internet. Spreadsheets were drawn up for everything to cross reference costs - Boring, but a must to keep on top of things!

THE VENUE | The Orangery, Turkey Mill, Maidstone, Kent. The grounds are stunning all year round, & the staff from beginning to end were helpful, friendly & professional.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Designer : Martina Liana, From Isabella Grace Tunrbidge Wells, Shoes: Jimmy Choo, Hair piece Debbie Carlisle.

FINDING THE DRESS |My maid of honour did the perfect job booking dress appointments in for me. I tried on around 20 dresses and found the perfect one at Isabella Grace.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | The suits were from Jack Bunneys, ties from Swagger&Swoon, shirts from T.M Lewin, & shoes from Next.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We are not religious so we had a civil ceremony at the venue. We had a reading from a family member who read 'One of a thousand chapters'. Our entrance/exit music was modern classics, with some being of an instrumental twist to suit the setting.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Jessie, Claire, Heather, Lucy & our MOH Jenna wore dresses made by Dessy.

THE FLOWERS | Were put together by a family member, Jerri Garton Flowers, & she done a fantastic job in creating the impact we were looking for!

THE CAKE | was made by a guest on the day, & she recreated a similar design to one we had seen on the internet.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | After searching long & hard for a photographer via all sorts of links, we found Kerry Ann Duffy. Her photography style caught our eye to begin with. Upon meeting Kerry, we found her to be very friendly, enthusiastic & professional in her approach. On the day she was excellent in obtaining the shots that captured the essence of the day without being obtrusive. Great value for money!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Our décor was based on Champagne, Gold, white & Ivory in a neutral coloured theme. We wanted plenty of vintage broaches, candles, candle holders & hurricane lanterns to add to the elegant feel.

THE HONEYMOON | We chose a week in Dubai, followed by a week in the Maldives. We had been to Dubai before, & being active people when on holiday this is a great place to wine, dine, shop & be pampered in 5 star luxury. The Maldives was pure paradise & much needed relaxation. The island was idyllic with crystal blue water & soft sandy beaches. This was the polar opposite to our London life, but we absolutely soaked up every minute of it!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Without a doubt...The speeches! Our Best man did a great job in making Sam look a fool, with great comedy timing & punch lines. Sam had us all in tears with a section of his heartfelt speech. And the father of the bride broke every rule with interesting stories, analogies & close to the bone remarks.
