Kim and Chris - Woodland Engagement Shoot

Happy Monday one and all!! Hope you all had a great weekend..

We have a stunner of an engagement shoot on the blog today. It ticks all the boxes 1. Well dressed and beautiful couple 2. Beautiful landscape 3. Emotive and loving vibe. Kat Hill, the photographer, hands down has pulled this shoot off with some beautiful touches!! Also I love Kim's style.. So effortless and bohemian - Rocking her cute flower garland! Over to the happy, stylish couple.....

We met just over four years ago in Amsterdam, very modern - online! I joined a website to look for housing and Chris messaged me through it for 6 months persuading me to meet him for a drink. He made me laugh so much in his emails but he looked like such a jock in his profile picture, super dishy but it just made me think he'd be a bit dumb in real life or it was a fake picture! Over time and without any other influences or distractions that there could've otherwise been, we'd been able to find we had a lot in common and had similar interests and could really crack each other up before even meeting, so all quite unusual maybe but it felt special and it worked for us!

We met up in the busiest square in Amsterdam, I didn't know who or what was going to be behind those emails or that potentially fake picture! We were laughing before either of us had said a word and had a brilliant night finding out about each other and working our way through a cocktail list. Everything seemed to fall into place quite effortlessly after that!

Chris took me to the Maldives as a birthday and 3 year anniversary present. We were really jet lagged on the first morning so went for a walk around the island at 7am. It was low tide so we could hop onto all these little sandbanks off the shore which were surrounded by baby black tip reef sharks. Shark infested waters may not sound the most romantic but he picked the moment, he got all shaky and started to say lots of lovely things and went down on one knee with a beautiful ring and it was amazing! I was so emotional, and then had to wait about 3 hours to call our families due to the time difference, felt like I was going to burst..

We live in Singapore, which is brilliant for travel and adventuring around South East Asia, though as a result we also have an extra appreciation for the traditional. After exploring all sorts of exotic options, nothing seemed more novel to us than the thought of a big British wedding back home! Chris' parents live in the New Forest which is beautiful as it is, a stunning landscape with wild ponies everywhere, and when we found Rhinefield House and Chris exclaimed it was "Pants-Down", we knew we'd found the right place for us. We wanted to have all the classic elements of a UK wedding, with great food, lots of drinks and good music, and just have the best, most fun party ever celebrating with all our best friends and family from around the world. We wanted to make it as personal to ourselves as possible so created a lot of the details ourselves, and sourced items from around Asia such as engraved heart shaped pewter boxes as the womens favours and mini hip flasks with godfather cocktails for the men. We had coasters made that had a tongue-in-cheek 'list of things to do while in Brockenhurst' on the back, we hand-made all stationary such as menus, orders of service etc etc. I made us a monogram and put it on candles, embroidered on cushions etc. Chris' aunt did our flowers, which were beautiful, we had white roses, calla lilies, orchids and tulips everywhere! For the music we had a dj and saxophonist, and a bongo that went around the room. Our first dance was Ho Hey and the dance floor was packed from the start until the end, with some pretty snazzy moves and dance-offs.. We got a videographer so I am jumping to get to see those again when the film comes in!

It was the Wednesday afternoon before the wedding on the Saturday so we just wanted to have a relaxed, informal practice for the real day and just went out into the forest near where Chris' parents live. Kat has an amazing eye for light and settings so was able to direct exactly where to go and stand for a good picture. We heard about Kat through friends and absolutely loved her style so were really pleased she was available to capture our wedding too. It was quite nice to get out and get some fresh air during the week in the lead up to the wedding, and she was then, as on the day a really nice calming influence! You're so busy in that period any way so it was just nice to have my hubby-to-be to myself again for a mo!

Check out more inspiration over at Kat Hill's website.. She is one of our favs!! Just love her work xx
