Sure, if you head to the Northwest anytime between late November and mid-June, there is a high chance you will need a rain jacket. But, the summers are ah-mazing. This Oregon wedding lucked out with sunny and mild weather in a beautiful historic venue just outside of Portland. Rustin and Carley's wedding is full of meaningful details and sweet moments. What was your vision? Any DIY projects? Did your wedding location hold a specific significance to you? Tell us details of the events surrounding the wedding. Any advice you'd give new brides who are just getting started? Vendors:

First of all, the weather was gorgeous, which is really hit or miss for that time of the year in the NW. We were able to have the ceremony outside in the meadow, which was my vision. I never saw myself getting married indoors. Dinner was inside the hall which is adjacent to the meadow.

I tried to find a way to honor my dad who passed away last spring. So I had his dog tag pinned to my bouquet and I wore the diamond earrings he gave me for my 13th birthday and a sapphire bracelet he had given my mom. My brother walked me down the aisle. It was really special.

My heart was set on wearing a birdcage veil for the wedding but I couldn't find one to match my dress, which was champagne. I'm not a very crafty person and my MOH was begging me to buy one but I refused, insisting that I could make one. I finally finished my veil 2 nights before the wedding and it came out great.

Another project was for the flower arrangements. Kim came up with the idea to have the flower arrangements (centerpieces) in wooden boxes. Since Rustin's stepdad is a cabinet maker we asked him to make these. He went above and beyond. The boxes came out beautiful and Rustin's mom burned our names on each one. Our florist then filled each of these. The result was stunning.

Yes. We had the wedding ceremony and reception at McMenamins Edgefield. This was one of my dad's favorite restaurants in the Portland area.

My maid of honor, Kim, planned a wonderful bridal shower at the historic Slocum House at Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver, WA. She catered French pastries from Petite Provence, had beautiful spring bouquets for favors, and never let my champagne flute go empty. For the bachelorette party, Kim planned a weekend getaway to Walla Walla, WA for wine tasting during the spring release weekend. Kim, my other two bridesmaids, a close family friend, and I packed into a van and set off for 3 days. It was an amazing weekend.

Rustin's best man, Christopher, took Rustin and the groomsmen out the night before the wedding to Portland's Downtown waterfront where the Rose Festival and City Fair were in full swing. They went on amusement rides and had a great time. I got to hear all about it the next day.

Hire a wedding coordinator. It's a small expense so you can keep your sanity. On my wedding day I didn't have to worry about place settings or rentals or any of that. Little problems were handled and I didn't even know about them until later. Also, take your time and enjoy the planning process.
