3 Ways to Step Up Your Smoky Eye Game

By now, you are probably familiar with the classic smoky eye and can likely do one in your sleep. Since we trust that you are all masters at this cosmetic classic, we think you should take on a few advanced versions. Makeup pro Emma Willis of Contour Fossa shows us how to upgrade the smoky eye. Don't worry, these add-ons aren't challenging, but we're pretty sure they'll qualify you for the smoky eye championships!

All three of the looks below can be added to a classic smoky eye. Begin each of these tutorials by prepping the lid with eye primer. Then, using a flat shadow brush, take a black cream-based liner like Shu Uemura Painting Liner in Black and draw a thick line along the upper lash line. Smudge the line so it blends into the entire lid and slightly into the crease. Line the lower lash line and smudge slightly.

Neon

1.With an angled liner brush, apply a line of hot pink shadow a quarter of the way across the crease line, starting from the inner corner of the eye. Willis used Urban Decay Savage from the Electric Palette.

2. Draw a hot pink line on the lower lash line, starting from the middle of the lid and working outward. Wing out the line slightly toward the brows.

3. Apply mascara to the upper and lower lashes.

Foil

Use a small shadow brush or your finger to break up silver composition leaf and muddle onto the inner corners of the eyes.

Glitter

Blend glitter (we love Urban Decay Heavy Metal Loose Glitter in Goldmine) with a makeup adhesive like Urban Decay Bondage Weightless Makeup Adhesive and apply along the lower lashes using a shadow brush or a finger. Stop at the corners.

Which of these smoky eye upgrades will you try first? Let us know in the comments below.
