Scotland is such a beautiful and interesting choice for a destination wedding, but is sometimes overlooked in the search for the perfect wedding location. Sunny weather may not be guaranteed, but the trade off is dramatic wild scenery, quality local produce, historically significant places everywhere you look, and very fine whiskey! Today we look at three magnificent castle wedding venues in Scotland that will be sure to tempt you.

Located on the shores of Scotland's famous Loch Lomond, Boturich is a magnificent castle wedding venue. Since the current building was built in 1832, it is fairly modern as castles go! A glass pavilion adjacent to the castle hosts wedding receptions of 50 to 250 guests, and ceremonies can be held on the grounds or in the pavilion as well. The venue is rented on an exclusive use basis so only hosts one wedding at a time. There is no accommodation on site, but there are plenty of places to stay in and around the town of Balooch only a few minutes away.

Stonefield is a baronial style castle set amidst 60 acres of woodland gardens on the shores of Loch Fyne on the Mull of Kintyre peninsula. Ceremonies can be held out on the terrace or in one of the banqueting rooms. Wedding receptions of up to 120 guests can be held at the castle, with large groups hosted in the Loch Fyne Restaurant, medium groups of around 40 in the Drawing Room, and intimate groups of up to 25 in the Library. There are 32 rooms for guest accommodation on site.

Auchen is an ancient castle dating originally from 1220. The grounds include 34 acres of woods and manicured lawns as well as a lovely private lake which is overlooked by the the castle dining room. Ceremonies can be held in the castle or outside in the Italian gardens. There are 25 bedrooms for guest accommodation and the castle can host wedding receptions of up to 120.
