Chic Beautiful & Personal Wedding

Chic Beautiful & Personal Wedding

Andrew and Stephanie tied the knot on the 13rd April 2014 at The Wood Norton, Worcestershire. Their day was all kinds of chic. The most beautiful portraits in divine light, simple effortless décor and Calla Lillies.

Stephanie looked stunning in her elegant La Sposa dress with cathedral length veil and perfect up do. The bridesmaids wore silver flowing dresses and the boys donned dapper bow ties. So much style and so much LOVE.

Thanks goes to the wonderful Millie Benbow Photography for providing the images today.

THE PROPOSAL | It was the 13 th July 2012, Andy booked a night away, we stayed in a lovely hotel in Birmingham, and then we went out for food and cocktails (I had one too many). We walked home and I was freezing, I asked Andy for his coat, he said No!! I was so cross and actually had a go at him. He then gave me his coat with my engagement ring in the pocket. When we got back to the hotel he sat me down and told me that he had a question to ask and I still did not catch on, so when he asked me I was more than shocked but very happy! and of course I said yes.

THE VISION | We both wanted the day to be all about us, we wanted to add our own little touches to ensure is was personal to us throughout the day.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | I have to say all the planning and organisation was down to Andy! He had set books for each part of the day and planned out itineraries for everyone involved on the day. Most things flowed quite easily for us with Andy's check list.

BUDGET | We did not want to spend over £10,000 for everything and we came in just under.

THE VENUE | The Wood Norton in Evesham, Worcestershire. We fell in love with the Wood Norton the minute we went there. It was exactly what I'd hoped for. A gorgeous very old building with all the original features but with a modern twist.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | I wore a dress by La Sposa a Spanish designer. I had my sister's garter and my jewellery was from my mother in law. My bridesmaids gave me a ring.

FINDING THE DRESS | I went to a lot of dress shops and loved all of the ones I tried on, I thought I would never find the 'one' but then my mum took me to her friends dress shop, Hagley Bridal in Hagley and they recommended the design and I just didn't want to take it off, it really felt like it was made for me.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Andy wanted to do something a little different from the standard waistcoat/cravat look and so decided to go with navy suits for him and his bestmen, silver bow ties and navy braces. The ushers wore the opposite colours with a grey suit and navy tie. It was the perfect combination.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We had a piece of music composed for us by a friend's boyfriend, we played this as everyone sat down.

I walked down the aisle to Run Marry Me. We walked out to "Signed, Sealed Delivered" by Stevie Wonder. Our first dance was Adorn by Miguel followed by Mrs Jones.

2 very close friends did our readings which were:

'Marriage Joins 2 people in the circle of its love' Edmund O'Neil. 'On Your Wedding Day' Anon.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had 4, they had silver long dresses from the same shop, Alfred Angelo Dresses. Gorgeous. My daughter wore a white dress from Next.

THE FLOWERS | I had all white cala lilies and they came from the Flower House in Droitwich. Kate was amazing and so reasonable.

THE CAKE | I had a friend make my cake, it was a 3 tier silver cake, chocolate sponge, and Victoria sponge.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Millie and Jo of Millie Benbow Photography.

This was the toughest part of planning our wedding, Andy was very fussy as he wanted a certain type of photographer who would capture the full story of the day as well as taking a different style of photos.

We met with Millie and thought she was perfect straight away, she loved our ideas and our kids loved her.

They have given us the most amazing pictures we could of asked for. They have captured our day perfectly and they also made us feel so at ease.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We wanted to add our own little extra bit to the day so we added little things such as:

Our colour theme straws for reception drinks.

Rum Bottle Favours as Andy is half West Indian and it was a white Rum from there.

Andy created our table plan with wine bottles and lilies.

We made our name cards with luggage tags & corks.

Trivia Questions on each table of our favourite films.

THE HONEYMOON | We had two nights in bath in a gorgeous spa hotel (we have 2 young kids so could not get away for longer).

It was a perfect relaxing few days for us to enjoy as Mr & Mrs Jones.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | There are so many.... But our Daughter had been in hospital the days leading up to the wedding and we were told she would not be allowed out for the wedding, so we had started to prepare people that the wedding would be cancelled as we could not of left her. She did make a quick recovery though and they let her out of hospital at 5.30 am on the wedding day! So for me it was just having my gorgeous family all together and that we actually did get married. I had to stay in hospital with her so I had not seen my son for three days and the first time I saw him he was all dressed in his suit - Millie captured that wonderful moment in a gorgeous picture. Also as I was in hospital I could not do any of the last minute organising. Andy was amazing, he did everything and did not forget anything for me, down to the wedding jewellery/underwear/make up/shoes. My Mum was fantastic helping with my daughter and my bridesmaids picked up my cake and dress and sorted out everything for me. Everything turned out perfect and even better as I had my little girl there.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Don't worry about pleasing everyone as you will always upset someone! Make sure you make the most of the day as it really does go by in a blink of an eye.

Don't stress over the small things as they will more than likely go unnoticed.
