The Bride Diaries. Kate's Invitations, Make Up Trial & Engagement Shoot

via

Afternoon lovelies. Kate is back this afternoon to keep us in her wedding planning loop. From the loveliest invitations, to the make up trial and engagement shoot, she has been super busy. Ohh and if you read on you may get a cheeky slip about a project I worked on last month ;-)) Thanks Kate XOXO Lou

Hiya, so again it has been a while since I have had the opportunity to write a bit about my bridal journey. I am currently taking a well-deserved break from the hell that is that otherwise known as the seating plan, I think I need to heed the advice of several other brides before me by grabbing a bottle of wine and taking the plunge ha, hence why I am leaving it until a more acceptable hour of the day before looking at it again.

I left you on tenterhooks last time with the promise of the big reveal of our invitations, I am pleased to announce that we had the assistance of the very lovely Karen at the original wedding tea towel www.weddingteatowels.co.uk in making our invitation dreams come true. Mr C was hesitant when I first thrust my free tea towel sample (complete with tandem bike image) upon him and may have taken a bit of a persuasion and a "fine you find something better" approach before he agreed but upon reflection he has admitted that they are pretty awesome, wahey high 5 to me. Karen was fabulous in her communication and even designed a RSVP card with menu choice and our evening invitations for us which we printed off at vista print. We had a great response to the towels, although many people have actually confided in us that they are reluctant to use them haha. Luckily we have a few spare so have doled some extras out. Also we have arranged to have one framed so that people can sign around the edge as a guest book as we aspire to having a downstairs loo one day so it will definitely have a home in the future.

I had the pleasure of being a Bridesmaid for one of my closest friends and my future sister in law in June so have gleaned a lot of Bride tips from these two experiences, I love how in this digital age the photos from the day are available so soon afterwards as I have absolutely loved reliving the moments. The sun was shining on both days so here's hoping that we are as fortunate with the weather on our day, but if not I have purchased a giant red heart-shaped umbrella so all will not be lost and the show will go on.

The mention of the umbrella leads me nicely onto our engagement shoot. We both decided that as the wedding is going to be located in Nottinghamshire it would be quite nice to have our engagement shoot in London. We chose the Southbank as our location, luckily our photographer Kathryn Edwards knew some great photo spots and she did a fantastic job of relaxing us in front of the camera although I know for a fact that in some of my favourite pictures my hubby to be is muttering "I hate you" through clenched smiling teeth haha. I don't think that we have ever kissed so much but it really was fun and I am so glad that we have built up a rapport with Kathryn before the big day. Check out Kathryn's blog entry at http://www.kathrynedwardsphotography.com/2014/07/kate-and-james-london-engagement-shoot/ to see some of our photographs (and the umbrella) I am looking forward to framing some of these when I get organised and have a bit more time.

I have also had a make-up trial with the lovely Lisa Precious, based in Nottinghamshire www.lisaprecious.co.uk and despite being horrified by my negligent skincare regime of a lot of moisturiser and facial wipes managed to transform me into a Bride. My Mum and I both fell in love with the skincare range Temple Spa which came highly recommended from Lisa and have both noticed the difference that cleansing and toning has made to our skin. Here's hoping that we look radiant on the day. With the makeup I have gone for a natural style base look then added a bit of dramatic eyeliner and false lashes as they really do make the difference and it is a special occasion after all. I had a major make-up fail recently so I have super glad that I have had a make-up trial as I have 100% faith that I am in great hands with Lisa.

Finally, the founder of this blog, the lovely Lou invited myself and fellow real bride Katy Hill on a styled photo-shoot, myself and Katy have found out that we live around the corner from each other so are looking forward to meeting up post wedding, we are also getting married on the same weekend so we are both praying for sunshine but anyway I digress... I know that I can speak for Katy as well by saying that we had a fantastic day and cannot wait to see the end results from the day. Everyone we met was lovely and it was great to meet Lou in person. A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes in one of these shoots, from hair and make-up tutorials, flowers, cakes, photography, models, choosing the location, organising everyone etc. and it truly was insightful and interesting. So Thanks again Lou and co.

I best sign off for now as I have a drive to Nottingham to compete and some unfinished crafting business to attend to (sorry giant K) and some wedding signage to create for the end of the drive at the venue. XX
