Stylish Summer Wedding in Ireland

Stylish Summer Wedding in Ireland

via

Jeananne and Will married on a glorious summers day hosting their reception at The Red Door Country House, Ireland. They planned their wedding from London with the help of their loved ones and kept their day simple and informal. Good food and good music was their priority, a couple after my own heart.

There were striking blue skies, an amazing naked Victoria sponge cake and an outdoor first dance.

Oh and I just have to mention Jeananne's amazing 3D flower embellished dress... amazing!

Thanks so very much to Wrapped In Plastic Photography for sharing these wonderful images today.

THE PROPOSAL | Will proposed overlooking the lake in Central Park, New York on St Patrick's Day, March 2012.

THE VISION | We wanted an informal and relaxed day with family, close friends, good food and good music at the heart of it.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We live in London, so most of our planning was done online and over the phone, and during weekends home to visit our family in Ireland.

We didn't find the planning process too stressful at all, and our families were a great help. My parents Jim and Anne, brother Johnny and sister Marianne were brilliant, particularly in the week running up to the wedding.

The first thing we did was book our photographer, Lisa from Wrapped In Plastic Photography. Lisa was the photographer at my sister Marianne's wedding the year before and we loved her style and how relaxed she made everyone feel.

THE VENUE | County Donegal is a beautiful place and I have many happy memories of summers spent on the beach there. We had lots of visitors coming for the wedding from London and from County Kilkenny, where Will is from, and we knew they would love it too.

The Chapel of Ease in Fahan is a tiny church my great uncle helped to build, overlooking the beautiful Lough Swilly. The reception venue, the Red Door Country House, is just a couple of minutes away with stunning views of the Swilly, gorgeous grounds and really good food.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | The dress was from Bridal Elegance in my home town of Derry. It had an asymmetric, detachable top (which came off later in the day when the temperature hit 30 degrees!) and a simple strapless dress underneath. The headpiece was from Amanda Wyatt.

FINDING THE DRESS | I visited a few bridal shops and saw some gorgeous dresses, but I loved the unusual 3D flowers on this one.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Will wore a three piece suit from Ted Baker, a tie from Reiss and a gold pocket watch borrowed from my father.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | My best friend since we were four, Paul McCarroll played piano in the chapel. He is incredibly talented and it meant a lot to me to have him playing.

After the meal, an Irish traditional band played outdoors as the sun came down. We had a great DJ called David Doherty on the decks later in the evening, and my brother Johnny, a brilliant singer, also took to the microphone for a few tunes.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My sister Marianne was my bridesmaid. She was so supportive and has great taste, so she was my go-to person for advice in the run-up to the wedding. My cousin Kitty was also a great help on the day, and Will's cousin Dave was best man.

THE FLOWERS | John Paul Florist in Derry - my bouquet was white hydrangeas and gypsophila, we had white hydrangeas on the chapel altar, and gypsophila in jam jars collected by my sister at the reception. We used gypsophila in an old hamper belonging to my parents for the table plan (my father Jim wrote the place names - his handwriting is a lot better than mine).

THE CAKE | Three tier Victoria sponge cake from Funky Cakes in Derry.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Lisa Byrne from Wrapped In Plastic Photography. Lisa is an incredibly talented photographer and a wonderful person too. Her photographs are so natural and really captured the spirit of the day. She has a great, unobtrusive manner which puts everyone at ease.

We also used Cinematic Tide videographers and were really glad we did - it's lovely to be able to relive the day, the speeches etc.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | The location, scenery and the Red Door were stunning so we didn't need to add much to it. We just added a few finishing touches - place names, table plan, mismatched photo frames for the table names.

My sister Marianne very kindly put together a box with make-up, perfume etc for the ladies and we also had a basket full of flip flops for dancing.

THE HONEYMOON | Koh Phangan and Koh Samui, Thailand.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Every minute of it - we were last to bed at 4am!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Relax and enjoy.
