High school sweethearts Robyn and Simon's relationship blossomed during a series of unconventional dates. One of their first dates took place at a pottery studio. Years later, Simon asked Robyn if she wanted to attend another pottery painting class. "I thought it was kind of random but also cute and romantic since it was something that we had done a couple times at the beginning of our relationship," explains Robyn. "When we got to the class, Simon took extra care to choose the perfect piece," says Robyn. "He settled on a plate and as we sat down to paint, I noticed that Simon was taking a long time to get started. After a while, he started moving the paints and brushes and materials around to create a barrier so that I wouldn't be able to see what he was doing. When he moved the barrier away, I saw that he had painted on his plate 'Will you marry me?'"

For their wedding, Robyn and Simon wanted all of their decorations and details to have meaning. "My father built the recycled wood crates for our centrepieces, we made our chuppah from an old table cloth that belonged to my grandmother, and we asked four close friends hold up the bamboo posts that it was attached to," explains Robyn.

Instead of reciting their marital vows aloud, the couple chose to whisper them to each other instead. "No one will ever know what we said except the two of us," says Robyn. "For a few moments, it was as though we were the only people there."

One of the couple's favourite moments of the day was celebrating with family and friends at their reception. " We were finally able to let loose and enjoy ourselves once the stress of making sure everything ran smoothly was behind us," remembers Robyn. "When we did let loose we had so much fun - we didn't want the night to end!"
