Quirky Pretty Floral Spring Wedding

Quirky Pretty Floral Spring Wedding

Happy Monday lovelies, I hope you had a fun filled weekend. Let's get cracking this morning with a pretty Spring affair.

WWW readers Andy and Rhiannon tied the knot on Saturday 19th April 2014 at Ingon Manor in Warwickshire. They hoped for a day which was fun, personal and full of love.

They had many of their loved ones contribute towards their day, with a homemade cake, stationery and Easter inspired details all crafted by family and friends. My favourite part of this wedding has to be the stunning lush bouquets of Peonies and Ranunculus, they looked amazing.

Rhiannon looked so very beautiful in 'Bonnie' by Jenny Packham with Jenny Packham headpiece and Jimmy Choo shoes. WOW.

Huge thanks goes to the fabulous Philippa James for sharing her photographs today.

THE PROPOSAL | In December 2012 whilst we were staying in Stratford Upon Avon. Andy proposed whilst we were walking along the river.

THE VISION | We wanted the planning to be fun and as stress free as possible, and our day to be fun, personal and full of love.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | When you first start planning a wedding, it can be so overwhelming... The options are endless. We decided from the outset we wanted a small wedding - just family and the bridal party - but a big party on the evening. Then we decided on 2 extravagant things we would like - I really wanted a band and Andy wanted a photo booth. This really helped us keep in mind what's important to us. Next we got as much help as we possibly could from family and friends. It was so much fun involving them.

THE VENUE | The venue was an easy decision. On a wedding venue hunt with my mum, Mum suggested we have a look at Ingon Manor in Stratford. As soon as we entered the 14th century barn I was sold, and a trip back a few days later with Andy and his mum had us all convinced. They have a wedding package that is excellent value. The barn is lovely, with its spiral stair case and mezzanine level. It has character, but also scope for you to transform the space as much as you like.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress is 'Bonnie' by Jenny Packham and my head piece is also by Jenny Packham. My shoes are Jimmy Choos and are extra special as my Nan, Mair, saved up her bingo winnings to buy them! I wore some 'borrowed' pearl earrings from my auntie and an 'old' bracelet I was given for my 18th birthday.

FINDING THE DRESS | I found dress hunting so much fun... I was almost reluctant to find the one! I must have tried on about 40 dresses. So many beautiful styles and fabrics, I thought it would be a case of short listing my favourites and making a very difficult choice. However, as soon as I put my dress on I knew it was the one for me. If anyone is considering going for a sequinned dress I would recommend it... It's surprisingly practical! It doesn't crease, it's comfortable and if you spill something on it you can usually wipe it straight off (very good for clumsy me)! But most of all it is really fun to wear. It's such a beautiful dress and I loved wearing it.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Andy wanted modern suits and skinny ties for the guys. We got the blue 3 piece suits from M and S and the boys all looked really dapper. I found the ties on Asos, a bronze colour for the ushers, best man and Andy's Dad and a champagne colour for Andy. They really complimented the bridesmaids dresses. Their shoes were from Kurt Geiger.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | For the readings Andy's Dad, Mike, read The Promise by Eileen Rafter. My brother, Rhys, created his own reading by compiling bits of the songs I loved as a teenager. It was so thoughtful and quirky.

For music, the choir at the church are so talented we wanted to make the most of them! Whilst me, my mum and my bridesmaids were preparing to walk down the aisle they sang 'God Only Knows' by The Beach Boys. I walked down the aisle to 'Air' by Bach. Whilst we were signing the register the choir sang 'Wouldn't It Be Nice' also by the Beach Boys and 'So Happy Together' by The Turtles. On the way out we had a 'Love Actually' moment as the choir sang 'All You Need is Love' by the Beatles. As a surprise my mum had printed the words and put them into each order of service so our guests were singing along as we walked out!

On the evening we had Ashmore Acoustics playing. They were incredible and we have had so many comments about them following the wedding. They played our first dance, 'Yellow' by Coldplay, perfectly!

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I was very lucky to have 7 beautiful bridesmaids. I got the bridesmaids dresses in the sale from House of Fraser and their shoes in the Kurt Geiger sale. They had angora shrugs from Monsoon (again in the sale) and jewellery from M and S. I wanted my chief bridesmaid Charlie to stand out, so she had a lovely dress from Phase 8 and a jacket from Coast. The little ones looked so cute in their outfits from Monsoon.

THE FLOWERS | Our flowers were by Lily White Florist in Boldmere. Not knowing much about flowers I made a Pinterest board which really helped to get our ideas across. The bouquets, flower wands and button holes were perfect.

THE CAKE | Our cake was made by my very talented Auntie Jayne and was a real labour of love. She even hand made the beautiful decorations for the top. We had 3 flavours; dark chocolate with vanilla cream, sticky toffee, pistachio and orange blossom. Delicious!

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | The very lovely Philippa James. She is so relaxed and friendly. Our guests loved her too! We are over the moon with the photos. We also had an amazing videographer, Simon Clarke Films, and the video is epic.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | At the church, we made the order of service and confetti cones ourselves. My family also made button holes for all of our guests. For the reception venue, we collected lots of metallic things and added a few splashes of Easter as it was Easter Saturday, My friend Lucy designed our invitations and some amazing wedding colouring in boards which our guests really enjoyed. My cousin Jack spray painted 2 canvases for us which were a great splash of colour. My nan, Sylvie, collected ornamental bunnies from charity shops which we sprayed gold and dotted around the venue with jars of mini eggs and little vases of spring flowers. For favours we bought cancer research badges which were in the shape of a blue bird in memory of my dad. We bought loads of plastic eggs, painted them and decorated them in metallic colours and then hid the little bird badge inside. These sat in egg cups with each guests name on. We named each table after a different milk tray chocolate and made our own table plan. The day before Andy, his dad and brother covered the spiral stair case with fairy lights which was so effective. We decorated tables with mirrors, candles and gold charger plates.

THE HONEYMOON | 4 nights in Las Vegas and 10 nights in Cancun, Mexico.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | There were so many! Apart from the vows, amazing speeches and lots of dancing, the surprising one that we both really enjoyed was travelling to Ingon Manor. We were a bit concerned about the distance between the church and venue. Travelling down the motorway in our wedding car, we had a lovely half an hour to ourselves talking all about the morning and ceremony. As we chatted and sipped some bubbly all our guests... And complete strangers... Were passing us, cheering and waving.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Remember the planning is part of the day too, so try to enjoy it as much as you can! Everyone says it... but make the most of every single second of the big day itself. It really does fly by.
