Wedding planners need to be at the top of their game, they have to constantly set trends and be prospectors for new ideas. Well, Wedding Concepts does exactly that and we are so honored to share the wedding of Malike & Wamekele that was planned these trend ambassadors. The wedding had a strong and bold purple theme running throughout accompanied by subtle dark blues here and there. Hydrangeas being the main flower and it is a well known fact, that one cannot go wrong with this flower choice. Have a look at the images and see what yet another team have created for a very special day!

Lovebirds | How did you two meet?

We met in St. Lucia (in the Caribbean) at a family friend's soiree. Wamkele was on holiday on the island attending the St. Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival. I was in St. Lucia visiting my grandmother for Mother's Day.

I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?

Our formal engagement came with little fanfare. Wamkele popped the question while we were at home in NYC. I was on the computer working and next thing I knew, he (and the ring) were on one knee. We shared the news with our families at large family gatherings: one in South Africa (before the formal proposal) and one in New York (after the formal proposal).

The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

The most memorable part of the day was the spontaneous song and dance that filled our wedding day! From the ceremony, to the cocktail hour to the reception...guests were dancing and singing. Most speeches were accompanied by a musical soundtrack - whether supplied by the DJ playing a song or our guests singing a song. It was wonderful and helped make our special day even more festive- just filled with jubilation!

I Quote | Describe in one sentence your wedding day

Our wedding day was epic, representing the perfect union of everything we love - our friends and family, good food, great drinks, the best music, dancing and lots of laughs.
Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides

Take a few minutes to be alone with your groom to take it all in and reflect - no photographers, no wedding guests, no anyone or anything besides each other. It all goes by too fast - stop and take a moment!
