Minette & Dirk's Knorhoek Wedding - Wedding Friends

Minette & Dirk's Knorhoek Wedding - Wedding Friends

via

The energetic and super duper husband and wife team from Kikitography is sharing a tremendously stunning wedding with us, the wedding of Minette & Dirk. This couple had their wedding at Knorhoek Wine Estate, nominated as one of the top 5 wedding venues in the winelands, and by looking at these images, it is clear why! A very alternative approach to a wedding reception, with different shapes of tables, no unity in arrangements, everyting is rather 'random', but all together a stunning picture is created, one that keeps you staring and every image. Enjoy the work of this talented company and share their work as far as you go!

Lovebirds | How did you two meet?

We met because we had mutual friends, but both being extreme introverts it took a while
before the two of us actually got to chat on our own. From the get go we felt comfortable
with each other, but we were usually interacting in large groups - or at the weekly board
game tournaments used to be held at his share house. It was on the night before my
birthday that he bought me a beer and promised to keep my company until it was finished
- it was a Sunday evening and everyone was heading home. We chatted for a long while,
and I knew then that it was the start of something very special.

I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?

We are both quite practical at heart, and Dirk knew that I didn't like to be blindsided/
surprised. (Some may call me a control freak...no idea where that comes from :D) For us
it was always an open conversation - a discussion about how we saw our future together -
we went to go look at rings - pretty overwhelmed with choices/prices etc. but once we felt
that we saw the one there was no reason to wait - we immediately went to my family to
go tell them and then started letting everybody know.

The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

For me there were a few moments. The nerves were almost too much at the ceremony to
take anything in, although for Dirk it was the most memorable when I came down the isle
and we made eye contact - realizing what a wonderfully exciting big step we were about
to take. For me it was the couple shoot after the ceremony - I was so nervous about this - I
love photography so much and were really looking forward to see what Kikitography
would do, but I am not naturally comfortable in front of the camera - Dirk made me laugh
so much that I totally relaxed - and I realized what a special thing it was - that he made
me so happy.

I Quote | Describe in one sentence your wedding day

A low key, rustic family affair with lots of personal touches, heartfelt words and special
memories.

Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides

Decide what is important to you and focus on getting that as perfect as possible - it is
impossible to get everything exactly as you would like. For me it was our photographer -
that would be the most important decision because it would determine how we would
remember that day. Don't let the common phrase "you'll regret that for the rest of your
life" make you overspend or stress out - yes it is an important day - yes you want it to be
special - but the marriage is much more important than the wedding - and if you have
made the right choice in partner, everything else will be special, no matter the color
scheme, choice of bridesmaid shoes, flower girl's bouquet etc.
