Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting Ivanka Trump at our Dallas NorthPark store as the designer and entrepreneur greeted her Texas fans and jewelry clients. In between her personal appointments and presentation of swoon-worthy designs in the Precious Jewels Salon, Ivanka and I sat down for a few minutes to talk about how her jewelry line and lifestyle are intricately connected.

In 2007 Ivanka Trump launched her eponymous fine jewelry collection at her Madison Avenue flagship. It has grown into more than ten mini collections - all related to one another, but focused on a specific theme and occasion. When asked how she defines her designs, Ivanka spoke about her day-to-day needs and that of countless of young, professional women who are actively "architecting the lives they want to live" while purchasing jewelry for themselves. "I really wanted to speak to that young, under-35-year-old working woman in the early iterations of her career and say ' Hey, here's an awesome ring. You don't have to wait for your boyfriend to buy it,' " Ivanka pointed out.

The precious jewelry collection features pieces that go from daytime favorites (see the Metropolis collection) to nighttime standouts that speak to her own lifestyle as a mom and working woman. "We are not changing throughout the day. And I think that's one of the elements of modern lives. I want to be able to wear a series of bracelets to a board meeting, on the floor playing with my children, out to dinner with my husband, and everywhere in between." Add to that a few statement diamond cuffs, tassel necklaces and Art Deco earrings and women all around the world will keep falling for the collection, no doubt.

I had to ask the designer which pieces she loves to wear during the day and which ones make the top of her list for evening fetes. "Right now I'm really loving yellow gold because it makes me feel like it's still summer. During the day I wear the bangles from the Metropolis collection all the time. I also love these Empire earrings with the green prasiolite stone, and the Metropolis pear-shaped necklace is amazing, very versatile. For night, the Tassel collection is unbelievable! It's one of our earliest collections, and it keeps growing. It speaks to this femininity and delicacy that I love, yet is very fresh and modern. When I'm getting dolled up, I don't wear yellow gold; I tend to wear white gold."

Afterward we walked around the salon , where Ivanka showed me more of her favorite, splurge-worthy pieces that she's sure to wear during glamorous h oliday events this season. "The pave-diamond ball bracelet from the Couture collection - I mean, it's major, right? This is like the consummate holiday piece, and it's our take on pearls," said Ivanka. "And the swirl white gold bracelet from the Athénée collection has such high-end impact. It would look amazing during the holidays." We must agree - these precious investment pieces are timeless. They are sure to infuse any outfit with personality and sophistication, as exhibited by the fact that Ivanka herself is wearing them, paired with a little black dress and fun leather sandals she designed. "I wanted everything to be fresh, relevant and trend appropriate without being kitschy or trendy. And I think it has really resonated; it's been a lot of fun."
