I can almost guarantee this lovely vintage wedding's soft color palette (I'm addicted to mint right now) and sweet DIY details will inspire your planning. Kelsey and AJ were married near Portland right on Lake Oswego. Between their sentimental decor elements and fun-loving wedding party, we have a feeling that this was an event to behold. Read below for Kelsey's thoughtful advice on keeping to a schedule and staying organized (something we can all use help with). My vision for the day was a sort-of "rustic romance" with elements of vintage inspiration. Our color theme was a soft icy mint, pale peachy pink and ivory. I love mercury glass and hobnail mason jars so I wanted small touches of those scattered around to give it more of a vintage look. I wanted the flowers to look like a soft romantic arrangement you'd piece together in containers you'd have lying around the house. I am also obsessed with succulents, and had them on everything from the plates for party favors, our wedding cake and in all the bouquets and centerpieces. We incorporated birch and other wood elements throughout to reinforce our love for the rustic outdoors.

I also did a ton of DIY projects. We designed our save-the-dates and invitations with a good friend, and then I hand embossed each sleeve for the invite package. I made our photobooth backdrop using lace curtains and cut-up sheer fabric strips. My bridesmaids and I made the party favors by planting succulents in tiny glass jars, while my parents helped me cut and glue the flags that went in each one. I designed and printed our wedding programs. I filled in gaps in the decor with household items like a candelabra, lace tablecloth, antlers, a photo array of our passed loved ones, etc. We hung our own chandelier and strung white lights all around the dance floor.

Our ceremony was held in the church we are parishioners at, and performed by our priest (who is amazing!). We fell in love with The Foundry as soon as we saw photos online, but when we visited they really sealed the deal. We are both lovers of the outdoors, and I am incredibly inspired by being on the water (lakes, rivers, ocean). The connection to nature that The Foundry offered, while still giving us a safe haven from the rain, was exactly what we were looking for. We stayed in a hotel on the lake (Lake Oswego) to get ready that day, and then enjoyed the views of the river just right across the street at The Foundry for the reception.

For brides that cannot afford a wedding coordinator, the best advice I can give is to start early and do not procrastinate. Within a few months of being engaged, we had nearly every vendor booked (it was helpful going to the bridal expo), and I was able to relax and just enjoy engagement for a little while. If you have DIY projects, or things you need to coordinate yourself, make sure everything is done a week before your wedding. You want to spend that week leading up to the wedding relaxing as much as possible, and not worrying about finishing any big projects. My other piece of advice is to be extremely detailed and keep lots of checklists and folders. Write and save every idea, receipt/invoice, inspiration photos, to-dos, etc., and keep everything in one spot (I'm a spreadsheet girl, but also had folders for each vendor). Track your budget diligently. I had three budgeting columns: one for an estimated total based on estimated guest count (which can be configured based on research and getting quotes from vendors); one for actual amounts that had not yet been invoiced; and then one for invoiced/paid amounts. Have line items for everything you think you want, and as the budget comes together you will see where you can be flexible and what needs to be cut.
