Vineyard Wedding in Evora, Portugal | Fly Away Bride

There really is nothing like a beautiful sun- drenched celebration in Portugal to warm you up on a cold December morning and this beautiful vineyard wedding in Evora has certainly brightened up our day. Set amongst the rolling hills of the Alentejo and on the grounds of the stunning L'And resort, Julia and Franks wedding took place in front of the lake with only their nearest family and friends present. While the day was full of personal touches and lovely little details, the night turned into a mega party with the happy couple flying their favourite band in especially from London. Dance moves were captured to perfection by Fábio Azanha so head on over to the blog to see some more.

When Julia walked into the pub, I noticed her straight away, smartly dressed, beautiful hair, looking pretty. She clearly stood out from the crowd. So I, in cheesy and broken English, approached her and asked her if I could get another beautiful smile that she had dropped me earlier on..(what a classic, frenchie, cheesy, but truthful way to approach a women).. And it all started from there..seeing each other from time to time, and then more frequently, until I realised that she was the one.. We have spent 4 years together now and have lived together for the last 2 and a half years. I was thinking about proposing her on her birthday last year in June, but financially I was not ready for it. Julia has a special and very original taste of life and I knew I would not have been able to match her expectations right then, although the scene was pretty perfect as we were staying in a penthouse overlooking the canal. However, the time was not quiet right. That came a few months later, in October and so I booked a table at "le pont de la tour" in Shad Thames, with a special table overlooking the river. We had a wonderful dinner together and just before the desert, Julia went to the ladies room to freshen up. When she got back to our table, I was on my knee. I took the napkin off the table and surprised her with the ring. It was such privileged moment. Julia was in tears, not knowing what to say! We just got carried away in the moment, I guess. And that was it, we were engaged. I whisked her to the Savoy, a really nice Hotel on the Strand where flowers and Champagne were awaiting us and we had a really romantic and truly unforgettable evening. Last September, Julia took me to Portugal for my birthday and lounging by the pool with a nice bottle of wine, we suddenly realised that this could be a place to host our wedding, and that's what we did."

" We met about 5 years ago, in Oxford Circus, in the pub I use to work for. At the time I couldn't speak a word of English, so getting tipsy on a daily basis was helping me improve my level of English!
