Stylish Backyard Vow Renewal: Tina + Brian

Stylish Backyard Vow Renewal: Tina + Brian

via

In 2009, Tina + Brian tied the knot with a beautiful celebration in Taipei, Taiwan, followed by a stateside reception in Los Angeles - all planned by the lovely Angel of Love & Splendor. These two always knew they wanted to renew their vows on the 5-year anniversary of their actual wedding date, so it was a given to reach back out to Angel to have her plan a magical evening to celebrate with family + friends in the comfort of their beautiful Los Angeles backyard. Angel teamed up with the very talented Tori of Sitting in a Tree Events and the scene they created together was nothing short of incredible. Thank goodness Braedon Photography was there to perfectly capture it all on camera! Let's hear a bit about the design direction for the night, as told by Angel:

The event was drenched in rich colors and textures, embracing a jewel-toned palette including sapphire, emerald green, richest purple, oxblood, onyx and metallic accents. Texture played a part in the overall event design, and elements such as leather, ponyhair hide, herringbone tweed and velvet all made their way into the look of the day.

How amazing is that invite above?!?! A bit about it from Tina, " I started dreaming up our invitations a year before we even began officially planning. My background is in gemology and graphic design, and I have my own calligraphy and hand lettering business, so I knew I wanted to incorporate gemstones with my own calligraphy into the design. I hand-selected specific agate slices for the invitation and crystals for the "jewelry box" depending on the recipient. Each invitation was unique, just like our friends are unique. The invitations set the entire theme of our vow renewal: the jewel tone colours, the layers of luxurious details, the magical energy that crystals exude."

Though the celebration was intimately sized, the details were larger than life and styled for maximum impact. Female guests were greeted with an array of floral crowns to adorn themselves, while men chose from a selection of tasteful boutonnieres.

Tina + Brian walked into the ceremony together, hand-in-hand, to XO by John Mayer.

To say we're obsessed with Tina's Rachel Gilbert would be the biggest understatement! Such a perfect fit for her. And wait til you see the other Rachel Gilbert gown she changed into a bit later on in the evening. Spoiler alert: it's long-sleeved, emerald green + covered in shimmery sequins!

Siren Floral Co. knocked it out of the park with the gorgeous florals for the evening. That bouquet is totally killing it + an all astilbe crown for Tina was such a fun + unique choice!

The reception included all vegetarian eats by Heirloom LA, a fun bar by Please & Thank You Bar and featured a slew of the most gorgeous rentals around: Found Vintage Rentals, Casa de Perrin, The Hostess Haven + La Tavola.

More from Angel, Each table featured a unique color story and design details. One table featured ponyhair, succulents, airplants, cement, clear glass, jadeite, zinc and wood. A second table was topped with black leather placemats, sapphire blue glassware and milkglass budvases filled with bursts of berry-colored florals. The third table showcased emerald green glass demijohns from Found, filled with bougainvillea. Black taper candles in brass candlesticks completed the moody look.

Tina and Brian, both vegetarians, were excited to share an inventive meatless-meal with their guests. Creative courses included beet greens ravioli, coddled eggs and potatoes served in miniature mason jars, and the tiniest casserole dishes filled with vegetarian bibimbap, a spicy and savory Korean rice dish. YUM!

For a passed dessert - macaron ice cream sandwiches Sweet & Saucy Shop + Sweet Lucie's!

Isn't this gown equally gorgeous?! We love.

More desserts included an array of cakes + sweets by The Scootabaker.

Some closing words from T + B, We knew our vow renewal would be intimate, and the guest count was small enough so we could laugh and share moments with each person there. We had our original wedding in Taipei, Taiwan and while we loved every moment of it, the 800 guest count was so crazy that we missed out on being able to spend time with many of our friends and family. We chose our backyard as the venue because we put so much love into our home, and we wanted all of our favorite people to share that magical day in a place that was so meaningful to us.

Congrats, you lovebirds! Here's to many more years of loving life together!
