Country Rustic Home on the Farm Wheat Filled Wedding

Country Rustic Home on the Farm Wheat Filled Wedding

via

Today's bride is a florist and the groom is a Gamekeeper; so the setting at home on the farm for their wedding was a natural choice for this outdoorsy couple.

WWW readers Shani and Timothy tied the knot on the 30 th August 2014 with a day which reflected their love of the country side. There were home-grown wheat, hops and sunflower arrangements, a hay bale bride and groom and rustic home-made touches galore.

Shani was utterly beautiful in her lace La Sposa gown and I am lusting over her perfect tousled waves complete with pretty Gypsophila flowers. Heaven.

Thanks goes to White Stag Wedding Photography for sharing their marvellous imagery today.

THE PROPOSAL | Whilst having a meal together at home one Saturday evening.

THE VISION |We knew that the perfect place for our wedding reception was going to be at home on the farm, where many happy childhood memories are and a backdrop that we will never tire from gazing at. Country and rustic was also always going to be our theme, to reflect our way of life and love of the countryside.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We already had a good book of suppliers/contacts from being involved within the wedding industry as a wedding florist for many years, and quickly got to booking them up! We have a lot of very kind and generous friends who helped with beautiful cars for the bride and bridesmaids, the hog roast, wedding cake and bridal bouquets ....

THE VENUE | All Saints Church, Woodchurch leading onto a marquee reception at home on the farm in Woodchurch.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | La Sposa fitted lace dress with a lace over jacket.

FINDING THE DRESS | Was one of the very first dresses I tried on and it wasn't until I tried on other styles and designs that I realised just how special and perfect this dress was to me.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Moss Bros Wedding Suit Hire with ruby cravats and pocket squares to match bridesmaids.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | A very personal reading by a special friend with an adapted version of Corinthians chapter 13. We chose Morning Has Broken and All Things Bright And Beautiful as our hymns, and 'All of Me' by John Legend whilst signing the register, with traditional church bells and organ on arrival and departure.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS |Dessy Dresses in 'Ruby' ... Customised.

THE FLOWERS | Wheat picked from the fields on the farm and arranged into sheaves for the tables, pew ends and also to decorate napkins. Hops picked from neighbouring hop gardens, sunflowers all home-grown on the farm too ... Classical whites and greens for the bride including Garden Roses and deep burgundy, greens and nude for the Bridesmaids and Buttonholes. Hydrangeas and black berries for the cake and a mixture of all the above for the hundreds of jam jars throughout the marquee. Home Grown Sunflowers and wheat also featured heavily with the milk churn arrangements and also the beautiful urns placed either side of the church doors. White Gypsophilia was used in the bridal flowers as it was beautifully delicate.

THE CAKE | Made by another amazing close friend (and bridesmaid), fruit cake iced with tumbling hydrangea in ruby colour to compliment the Bridesmaids dresses placed on a rustic log round, decorated with fresh Hydrangea, hops and Blackberries.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Catherine and Andy from White Stag Wedding Photography. Very talented couple who understood our rustic country vision and share our passion for the great outdoors and country-life.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | This is where the fun began as Shani got to do what she loves and is very passionate about. Throughout the year leading up to the wedding, jam jars were collected and decorated with lace, hessian, linens, buttons and ribbons. Logs rounds were cut for the table centrepieces, cake, guest book and mini table place numbers. Wooden potato seed trays were used to create the seating plan dresser and photographs gathered too! Wheat was picked for the table sheaves, pew ends, napkins, chair backs, buttonholes and bouquets and heart to feature behind top table. Hops and rustic coloured bunting were used to decorate the inside of the marquee along with Sunflowers in old milking churns. Wooden heart confetti was used to scatter amongst the jam jars and log rounds. Hundreds of stems of English country flowers were used to fill the jam jars in whites, greens and deep burgundy shades to add colour to the tables. I repeated my invitation design through to the order of service, guests place names and buffet table, which featured pheasants and hares which is significant to Tim's role as a Gamekeeper. A wicker hamper was used for guest's cards and the letterbox was uniquely covered with moss to add to the rustic design. The forge chandeliers were decorated with green foliage to add colour to the ceiling and white lanterns to add interest. Outside the marquee hay bales were placed randomly for extra seating. A giant straw bale Bride and Groom greeted guests on arrival alongside round bales decorated with bride and groom initials. Below the marquee was a lovely backdrop of Sunflowers and wild flowers planted specially with the wedding and photos in mind.

THE HONEYMOON |A trip to Thailand in the spring (before the wedding) as we were unable to have time off in September !

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Too many to account for but sitting on the top table amongst our family and friends looking out to all those we hold dearest and just thinking how very special our day was and how lucky we are.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | To take 5 minutes out together and look at what you have achieved with your hard work and planning. Plan well ahead as it is never too early to start, the time really does fly !
