Photographer, Emily Delamater, the mastermind behind today's ultra pretty shoot, took the 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em' approach to this project you're about to see. She spills, We shot this editorial here in Maine's never-ending winter, and designed the shoot around a love and embrace of a long, dark winter season. Perhaps easiest to do now as it is is finally on its way out!

Emily teamed up with florist + stylist Carolyn Snell to create a setting that embodied an ocean-inspired feel, as apposed to nautical. Since so many weddings tend to err on the side of light and airy, they thought it might be really beautiful to indulge the other - darker - side of things. What they created is just so good + perfect for couples tying the knot in the winter. The palette of blues, black, silver and grey is not too feminine, but not too masculine, and the mood was as romantic as it was unique!

The bridal bouquet incorporated some of our winter faves: leafy greenery, eucalyptus, rosemary, succulents and feathers - a perfect contrast to the stark white and black anemones. Organic, hand-died ribbons in shades of grey + slate blue further executed a soft + moody feel.

Sometimes all you really need is a simple garland to pretty up a space! And that gorge dress from Truvelle Bridal doesn't hurt either!

Emily says, We really wanted to incorporate some graphic illustration and letter elements. We used tiny salt and pepper bowls with an elephant and whale from K Collette , press printed elements, Valérie Casado hand made small plates, black goblets and black and white candlesticks, mixed with pewter and silver elements, as well as old book pages for the place card. On the white linen table runner were the hand written vows of the couple (painted by the bride in blue-black ink) we wanted the shoot to have the feeling of a lost love letter.

While that sweet, two-tone cake by Nothing Bakes Like a Parrott is the star of this little vignette, the team used a mix of fresh + silver-painted blackberries and pears, powdered dark chocolates+ worn wood bowls to decorate the sweets table.
